A native of Nashville, Voorhies is a member of the Jehova's Witnesses faith.
Voorhies once dated actor Martin Lawrence, and she came close to marrying him. However, she ended up marrying another actor, Miguel Coleman. Voorhies also is a musician who plays the violin, cello and piano.
