David Lloyd Vitty ('Comedy Dave', born April 24 1974 in Hong Kong), is officially the 'comedy director' for The Chris Moyles Show broadcast on BBC Radio 1 in the United Kingdom, although 'sidekick to Moyles' is a good description of his role.

David fell into his role by accident - he studied Radio Production at college, but never had any ambitions to be 'on air'. Whilst working as a 'tech op' at Radio 1 he met Chris Moyles. The two clicked and Chris invited Dave to work with him on his early morning show. When Chris transferred to drive time in 1998, Dave went with him and accquired the moniker 'Comedy Dave'. This was a deliberately ironic name (as per "Little John"), to highlight the fact that he wasn't very funny at all. However, Dave plays an important part in the ideas and scripting for the show and writes many of the jingles.

David's regular daily contribution to the current programme - The Chris Moyles Show - is the Tedious Link, a spurious collection of loosely connected information, where one grain of fact leads miraculously into another by way of juxtaposition, which then eventually leads into the title of a song (or the musicians responsible for it), often a classic or memorable tune, which is usually played at precisely 9am, preceded by the Radio 4-friendly Greenwich time pips.

Around 9.05am, Dave draws in a large quantity of breath and sings Let's get ready to ramble (sic), then holds onto the last syllable for a good 10-20 seconds.

Dave played at the Glastonbury festival 2005 along with friend and co-worker Dominic Byrne, in the guise of the folk inspired musical group, "Folkface". Dave played percussion and Dominic guitar. As of September 2006 they claim to have 3 songs, all 'inspired' by certain ABBA songs. Notably they also played a specially re-written version of Celebrate by Kool and the Gang for Chris Moyles' 32nd birthday.

He supports Everton FC and, although born in Hong Kong, spent much of his youth in Warrington, Cheshire. Dave married Emma Pontefract at the Tudor Barn close to Burnham Beeches on August 23 2003. Live on air on 6th September 2006 he announced that they had split and they are now in fact divorced.

Since 2002, he has co-presented an occasional sport-themed show on Radio 1 entitled Chappers and Dave, with The Scott Mills Show sidekick Chappers.
