Goop is a tire additive used in the sport of slot car racing. It increases the traction of the sponge rubber tyre on a wooden track surface.
The Goop can be applied in two ways. It can be added in lines to the wooden track surface, and it can be added directly to the tyre. When applied in lines to the wooden track surface, it is picked up cummulatively through laps and maintians traction evenly over time. When added directly to the tire, it will greatly increase grip for a short period of time and then wears off. Goop is comes in three different viscosities depending on its use.
Goop is also a waterless hand cleaner. It can also be used to pre-treat fabrics to get out stains prior to washing.
I don't know what "Goop" is being referred to in the above article, involving slot car racing. Is it the same product I am referring to? No link is provided for it, so I have no way of knowing.
I hope someone else will come along and clear this up.
