The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is a game currently under development by Bethesda Softworks for the PC, Xbox 2, and Playstation 3. It continues the long tradition of The Elder Scrolls game series. So far details are scanty but it has been in development since 2002 and it is claimed as "another leap forward in role-playing with its combination of freeform gameplay and cutting-edge graphics."

Although initially believed to take place in a world smaller than that of it's predecessors, the interview with Todd Howard (see link below) debunks these rumours. Oblivion will sport a completely reworked, more involving and more exciting combat engine, outstanding graphics, magic more usable in combat and many other features. It will take place mainly in the imperial province of Cyrodiil but parts of it will also take place in Oblivion, the realm of the Daedra.

It is currently estimated that the game will be released in Q4 of 2005 later. However, no official release date has been announced.
