He is a Senior Fellow at Prince Henry's Institute of Medical Research at Monash Medical Centre, and a Professorial Fellow at the Centre for Neurosciences at University of Melbourne.
He was reportedly considered for the Chairmanship of the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia, but did not receive the position because of his controversial positions.He along with his protege David Copolov were described by a judge as a "dishonest racist." He remains a director of the Harold Mitchell Foundation and an Officer of the Order of Australia. He is also one of the trustees of A & E Finkel Foundation.
