TechCrunch is a blog about Web 2.0 products & companies, many written by Michael Arrington. The blog's first post was on June 11 2005.

The website's Technorati rank is 8. As of November 22 2006, it has 139,000 readers subscribed to its FeedBurner RSS feed.

TechCrunch is now affiliated with several other websites, commonly referred to as the The TechCrunch Network. These websites include:

  • Localized editions - As of September 17 2006, these include TechCrunch France edited by Ouriel Ohayon (launched in February 2006), TechCrunch Japan and TechCrunch UK. The French and Japanese editions feature translations of posts from the main TechCrunch blog as well as original content. TechCrunch UK focuses mainly on UK-based or targeted Web 2.0 services.
  • CrunchNotes - An informal blog about web 2.0, written principally by Michael Arrington.
  • MobileCrunch - A blog tracking the Mobile Computing industry. Written by Oliver Starr.
  • CrunchGear - A blog covering gadgets and computer hardware, edited by John Biggs.
  • TalkCrunch - A podcast about web 2.0, featuring interviews with founders of assorted web 2.0 companies, covering new product launches and the like.
  • CrunchBoard - A job board for web 2.0 companies.

TechCrunch became the subject of popular Internet meme among venture capitalists and entrepreneurs after investor Josh Kopelman, the managing director of First Round Capital, noted that "Too many companies are targeting an audience of 53,651."

TechCrunch sells image advertisements for $10,000 USD per month.
