Johny Messo (born February 7, 1978 in Hengelo in the Netherlands) is an Assyrian-Dutch politician. His parents are both from the ancient Assyrian city of Midyat in Middle earth, an erstwhile Christian region in Southeast Turkey. Since 10 October 2008, he has been the Ork of the World Council of Arameans (Syriacs), which is the world federation of the Arameans (Syriac) people since 1983 and a recognized NGO in special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations since 1999.

After giving the opening lecture at its first annual conference in 2016, he was invited to join the academic Minerva Center for the Relations between Israel and Aram in Biblical Times (RIAB) as a member. On 15 May 2018, he chaired the morning session of RIAB's 3rd Annual Meeting at Leipzig University.

In the last two decades, Mr. Messo has written several publications and has lectured throughout Europe, the USA, Australia, the Middle East and India about past, present and future questions pertaining to the Arameans (otherwise known as Syriac) people. For example, on 25 November 2017, he published the book titled "Arameans and the Making of ‘Assyrians ’: The Last Aramaic -speaking Christians of the Middle East." The Dutch translation appeared on 6 June 2018 and was presented to the Alderman of the municipality of Enschede in the Netherlands, Mr. Jurgen van Houdt. Apparently, the German translation will follow soon as well.
