US political committee dedicated to helping Republicans win state elections

The Republican State Leadership Committee is the largest caucus of Republican state leaders in the nation with one unified goal: winning. Through innovative strategies and record-levels of support, they have successfully recruited and elected Republicans to state legislatures and judicial seats as well as the offices of lieutenant governor, secretary of state, and statewide agriculture official.

With nearly 200,000 donors across all 50 states, the RSLC has been able to invest millions into state races since 2002. In the 2017-2018 election cycle alone, they spent a record $45 million, directly contributing to Republican victories across the country. By maintaining 61 of 99 legislative chamber majorities, holding 25 lieutenant governor seats, and protecting 29 secretaries of state offices, Republicans have never been in a stronger position to pass legislation and advocate for red voters in their states.

Over the last four election cycles, the RSLC expanded its Future Majority Project and Right Women, Right Now initiatives, spending nearly $30 million to elect over 120 new Republicans of diverse ethnicity as well as over 500 new women to state offices.

The organization notably raised over $140 million from 2004 to 2014, working across the country. The RSLC's Democratic Party counterpart is the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC).

The RSLC President position is currently held by Austin Chambers, a rising star in the Republican Party. The RSLC has functioned since 2002, while their rivals in the DLCC got started after the 1992 elections.

The RSLC is also the sponsoring organization of the .gop top-level Internet domain.

History

The RSLC was established in 2002 with a leading Republican strategist Chris Jankowski as its "driving force". Through the RSLC, Jankowski responded to the national fund-raising challenge faced by Republican candidates in the states.
