Revision as of 17:47, 14 January 2007 by Piotrus (talk | contribs) (cats, bypass redirect)(diff) ← Previous revision | Latest revision (diff) | Newer revision → (diff)Vilnija is an extremist nationalist Lithuanian organization formed in 1988, whose aims was the lithuanization of ethnic Poles living in what is now the Eastern part of Lithuania. The organization was formed of ethnic Lithuanians and led by Kazimieras Garšva. Its beliefs, elaborated in a monograph by Garszwa, were based on an assumption that Poles of what became a part of Lithuania in 1945 were in fact polonized Lithuanians and that their true identity had been erased by years of foreign occupation, and that they should be brought back to their Lithuanian roots by erasing any trace of alien (that is Polish or Russian) textbooks, symbols, teachers and symbols.
