Ach so... Is it what is called an achievement ? Thanks for explaining, otherwise I still would be wondering. LouisAlain (talk) 13:11, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
You can drink a Cognac to celebrate the day. Grimes2 (talk) 13:28, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
I'm currently on rhum agricole but Cognac is always welcome. Unfortunately, like in the rest of the world, cafés and brasseries are closed in Paris. Otherwise...

February flowers

Thank you for enormous contributions! ... more flowers ... Will you do de:Volker Wangenheim or should I? ... with proper attribution --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:56, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

I'll take care of it from tomorrow (with proper attribution!), I'm currently engaged in German organ builders. LouisAlain (talk) 16:37, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
Falsche Bewegung and I've lost one hour work completing Joachim Wagner. I'll translate de:Volker Wangenheim in the morning before returning to Wagner. LouisAlain (talk) 20:27, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
I'm sorry, because I just had the same a few days ago. No rush with Wangenheim. I had him planned in three days. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:48, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
Sigh about the draft, Draft:Volker Wangenheim. I did my article for today already, but can do the other tomorrow. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:27, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
The article needs some translation in some parts. Grimes2 (talk) 10:32, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
Yes, but not by me today. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:36, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
Translation completed, sources seem to be ok: submitted for review. Grimes2 (talk) 11:05, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Andréa Guiot - you translated in 2018 - died. The Osiris prize ref is gone, - can you find something instead? Can you check the France Musique entry for things missing? Kutsch/Riemens is rich! Will try to get more from there. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:15, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

Wolfgang Boettcher - you translated in 2020 - died. - Today, we have a DYK about Wilhelm Knabe, who stood up for future with the striking school children when he was in his 90s, - a model, - see here. - Further down on the page, there are conversations about the current arb case request - I feel I have to stay away - in a nutshell: "... will not improve kindness, nor any article". - Yesterday, I made sure on a hike that the flowers are actually blooming ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:28, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

The size of the page Wolfgang Boettcher has been mutliplied by three within hours !
As regards arb case (arbitration I suppose), IBAN situation (another acronym I'm not aware of) and their likes, this belongs to the intricacies and depths of Misplaced Pages that are way beyond my understanding. You're really very, very active on all fronts. I feel like a school-boy. Two French sopranos today, rather well referenced, a young one Marie Perbost and an ancient one, Suzanne Peignot. There are some others on the fr Wiki. that I shall translate in the coming days. The organ builders pages are more numerous than I thought and a bit tedious to work on. I haven't given up though. LouisAlain (talk) 16:35, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
There's a great interview with Boettcher talking and playing, at the end! - iban is short for interaction ban, which means: avoid to step on the toes of the other, as if that had to be commanded ;) - it's a good idea anyway. Thanks for the sopranos! Best do only one that's interesting for me per day ;) - I had now idea how famous that Schuke firm was: Gedächtniskirche, Berliner Philharmonie and abroad! And Frankfurt where I hope to listen again on Sunday. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:42, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
remember Draft:Asuka Sezaki? I found this, - is any of it useful? For me the left side is covered by something in Japanese which doesn't make deciphering French easier. Could it be that this is the library mentioned for Brussels? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:44, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
Good find! There's no left side in Japanese on my screen but part of the main text in French is a short biography that adds nothing to what we have in this draft. The remaing text is an introduction to the Poulenc festival and a welcome speech by the French musicologist Simon Basinger. Anyway, it makes another valid reference. I'll see what I can find regarding some orchestras that are mentioned. Three refs added. Hope it passes the audition now. LouisAlain (talk) 07:44, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for your submission to Misplaced Pages. FireflyBot (talk) 06:01, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

I'll work on him in a few days. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:31, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

Gerda, this is a hopeless case. Grimes2 (talk) 12:33, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

March flowers

Today: Carmen for TFA (on my request), with Bizet's music "expressing the emotions and suffering of his characters" as Brian worded it. - I interrupt Karl Reitz for this message, a tough case, found a good source for Rudolf Deman when searching, - help yourself, I noticed Deman too late, - can't manage two. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:41, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

I nominated Template:Did you know nominations/Elsa Dreisig, - DYK that I heard her, in the Rameau? I noticed only when I got to the detail, her name is not easy to remember. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:42, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

Why is her name not easy to remember for a native German speaker ?

Patrick Dupond please, - he died, and has just a redirect (which would need to be overwritten) to the Opera, - sad. There are ills from Fresco (Stockhausen) which is on the Main page, but only if you have time left. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:21, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

I noticed he had no page here and was surprised because of his fame. I'll do it tomorrow. LouisAlain (talk) 19:31, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
It's almost finished, translation is a matter of minutes. There are many refs available, the NYT (and not yet in the Guardian) but is it necessary to pile up refs from German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish etc. sources? LouisAlain (talk) 21:59, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
Great! But, please, read and follow the above. There's a redirect Patrick Dupond. Go there, it will take you to the company, scroll to the top, below the title, there's a little: redirected from PD, click on that and edit THERE, overwriting the redirect, even copy/paste if necessary. Otherwise we have two. And Graham87 who could help is sleeping. - Then mark the (1) for deletion as duplicate. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:20, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
And it worked ! Thanks. LouisAlain (talk) 23:28, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
Great! I copy-edited. No present tense for someone who died :) - If it was referenced it could go to the Main page, but that's probably too hard. Good to have it! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:36, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
Can you please check if this obit just supports what we have already for Dmitri Bashkirov, or if something extra worth mentioning? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:55, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
I haven't checked yet but that was an opportunity to link to him on four more articles. LouisAlain (talk) 12:09, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for the new one! - As for linking, I normally do that when on the Main page, but with some good luck, that will happen today. Little vanity ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:19, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Barnstar

The Germany Barnstar of National Merit
For creating and translating articles related to Germany. Grimes2 (talk) 16:51, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the award Grimes2; Actually I started with articles from the fr. Wiki and switched to the German ones after about 2,000. There are "only" 3,400 translations from German. LouisAlain (talk) 20:10, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
So you deserve the French barnstar and the European barnstar too. Grimes2 (talk) 20:23, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
Grimes2, could YOU perhaps reference Deman? - The Hamburg ref should cover a lot! Last day for a DYK today, and he'd really deserve attention! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:03, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
 Done Grimes2 (talk) 18:14, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
lucky you, - and thanks! - I'd still love to find a ref for birth and death of Karl Reitz. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:40, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
Gerda Arendt. How could I possibly find references like that ? Maybe didn't I try very much also...!
That one I found when searching for Reitz, - but I still found nothing substantial for Reitz, dates, places, family. No trace of the further readings, - the dissertation can be found only on a blog ... so not reliable, and looking like repeated word for word. I gave up. No DYK for him, - but the other. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:34, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

DYK for Polly Batic

On 8 March 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Polly Batic, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Polly Batic appeared at the Salzburg Festival in roles such as Annina in Der Rosenkavalier from 1931 to 1937, and became a member of the Vienna State Opera in 1948? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Polly Batic. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Polly Batic), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Cwmhiraeth (talk) 00:02, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

today (IWD): MMMM, four times French opera characters, and the Main page history is for your album --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:45, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

Andréa Guiot is an ancient one whose size you multiplied four times. Kudos ! How did you manage to pass the audition with a 2 year old article? I've lost track of the page that shows the respective DYK participants and where it read how many each has created. LouisAlain (talk) 20:23, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
Five-times expansion is counted as sufficient new content. - You go to WP:DYKSTATS and then click through to the last list. Not a good list because it's done manually, with errors of course. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:05, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

DYK for William Wernigk

On 10 March 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article William Wernigk, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that William Wernigk performed four roles in Der Rosenkavalier during his decades at the Vienna State Opera, including the Innkeeper on a 1933 recording conducted by Robert Heger? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/William Wernigk. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, William Wernigk), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page.
