Vocal jazz or jazz singing is an instrumental approach to the voice. Similar to a cappella, it utilises vocal arrangements to create sounds forming music, rather than relying on traditional musical instruments.

One form, vocal jazz ensembles, emerged in the United States in the early twentieth century.
