Peter A. McCullough, born (1962-12-29)December 29, 1962 in Buffalo, New York State., (MD, MPH, FACC) is an American professor of medicine. He is currently Vice Chief of Internal Medicine at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas as well as a Senior Professor of Internal Medicine at the Texas A&M University Health Sciences Center.

Biography

After earning a bachelor's degree from Baylor University, Dr. McCullough earned his medical degree as an Alpha Omega Alpha graduate from Southwestern Medical School at the University of Texas at Dallas. He then completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle, a cardiology fellowship, including service as chief investigator at William Beaumont Hospital, and a master's degree in public health at the University of Michigan

Career

McCullough is an internationally recognized authority on the role of chronic kidney disease as a cardiovascular risk state with >1000 publications and >500 citations in the National Library of Medicine. His work includes "Interface between Renal Disease and Cardiovascular Illness" in the Braunwald Heart Disease Textbook.

McCullough has been invited as an expert to a congressional oversight panel.

McCullough has also worked on the impact of obesity on heart disease. and in particular the effects of bariatric surgery.

McCullough is a member of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons.

Work on SARS-CoV-2 and Covid-19

McCullough published an article in August 2020 proposing early outpatient treatments for those affected by Covid-19: "Pathophysiological Basis and Rationale for Early Outpatient Treatment of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Infection" in the American Journal of Medicine.

On May 19, 2021, he gave a lengthy interview in which he was highly critical of the actions of the US government and health agencies.

On June 29, 2021, he gave a videoconference at the French IHU Mediterranee-Infection entitled "Pathophysiologic Basis and Clinical Rationale for Early Ambulatory Treatment for COVID-19 and Update on Vaccine Safety"

On July 13, 2021, on the Fox News program The Ingraham Angle, McCullough said "There is no reason right now—no clinical reason to go get vaccinated."

Awards

Dr. McCullough is a recipient of the American College of Cardiology's Simon Dack Award and the Vicenza International Award in Critical Care Nephrology for his scholarship and research.
