DS alert

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in the topics of Kurds and Kurdistan, broadly construed. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Misplaced Pages's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Hello @User:Paradise Chronicle, I do not quite understanding this. Thank you. I would like to discuss this if you are happy to inform me what this all means. How can I contact you? I have been lurking for a while, but only now figuring out how to contribute on Misplaced Pages, still learning as I go of course.TataofTata (talk) 04:04, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

Just a general note about the discretionary sanctions, which one can invoke if they seem as helpful. Paradise Chronicle (talk) 05:56, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
I see, thanks. I can't quite find the notes or what can be invoked.. I've only returned to Misplaced Pages after noticing most of the users who were biased and manipulating pages that I encountered were banned/blocked so I am under the impression that there is some worth to contributing. I started contributing on a few pages and already being requested to be deleted by pro-turkish accounts.. Any advice? TataofTata (talk) 14:34, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

Talk:Dersim rebellion

Please see WP:NOTFORUM. I removed a post here because it violates that and offers nothing but a bunch of cussing. Your "Not sure why you want to remove this one but not the others..." just does not pertain: that there's other posts that violate that guideline is no reason to restore one that does. As for your leading question, "not sure why"--well speculating about motives is not very productive, but I know that I saw a useless talk page comment that I decided to remove: feel free to remove other useless commentary. PS I'm taking my time here, typing out my thoughts, because your user page indicated you were interested in getting advice--here it is. Drmies (talk) 16:07, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello Drmies, thanks, I appreciate it. I found just the single removal odd considering there are many ranting on the talk page, removing pretty much all or most of it would be essentially censoring and hiding away the problem people see with the article, and to be honest I found the comment -that you removed- to actually be informative and collectively -till the issue remains- be one of the good arguments raised. Granted the line that I assume you're referring to being the cussing was in bad taste, but I think that stems from people being frustrated and at a loss with the page and I agree. I personally tried to work on the page, but found the genocide/ethnocide being a mere subheading just wrong, morally wrong too.
If you do not mind to provide further thoughts, as an admin what can be done to try and resolve the issue with the page? TataofTata (talk) 18:03, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
Well, talk page posts need to address the problem and discuss or propose means of improvement, and comments like "You all should be disgusted with yourselves. Misplaced Pages is suppose to be umbiased" are just way beyond the pale. I see that you also take an interest in the name/topic, and I have to say that I was surprised to see my own name on that page, closing a move discussion. As it happens, that's about the only discussion on the entire talk page that has more than a few editors (and those are editors with extensive experience), and that sort of runs in an organized fashion without personal attacks and unsubstantiated claims of bias.

No, I have no solutions, but I'm not aware of a problem--you and others have one, but what I do not see anywhere on the talk page is, for instance, a set of comments that involve citations from reliable sources. I see you posted a move proposal a few years ago, but Seraphim System cited a half a dozen academic books; without such citations it is going to be very difficult to win over a consensus. BTW I'll hasten to add that I really have no knowledge of the matter, and no opinion either way. Good luck, Drmies (talk) 22:15, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

OK, I do have an opinion on the historical event but I'll try to keep that out of my editing, and it doesn't make me have an opinion on the matter of the title. Drmies (talk) 22:24, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

Doing so violates Misplaced Pages's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν) 04:24, 26 August 2021 (UTC)

Quite an odd and unhelpful comment, could you not have also mentioned specifically where you think I do this? I am aware to not to do such a thing, like I assume everyone else tries to avoid. TataofTata (talk) 05:02, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
