User script listings cleanup project

I'm leaving this message for all recent contributors to Misplaced Pages:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts.

This scripts listing page is in dire need of cleanup. To facilitate this, I've created a new draft listing at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts cleanup. You're invited to list scripts you know to be currently working and relevant. Eventually this draft page can replace the current scripts listing.

User script list deprecation

Misplaced Pages's list of user scripts is in bad shape, in that it is disorganized and contains many non-working, unmaintained, or thoroughly obsolete entries. Cleanup has been on the to-do list since 2007, but little progress has been made. Instead, the whole list is now set to be deprecated on 1 May 2012, to be replaced with a new list. This draft list has been up for about a month, and in that time I've been soliciting script users and authors to come add scripts they know to be working and relevant.

If you know of scripts that you would like to survive this deprecation (and are confirmed working and relevant), you're welcome to add them to the new list. Note that the old list will be retained and linked from the main list, so there is no real deadline. Thanks for your help. Equazcion 00:57, 22 Apr 2012 (UTC)

TWA substitutions

Hey Matt! The javascript API calls substitute messages like WP:TWA/Welcome. I'm trying to get the {current date} and {basepagename} (username) to appear in the messages. I've been using 'noinclude' tags, but these aren't working. Someone suggested this change, curious what you think:

Cleaning up Special:WantedTemplates

Hi, due to quirks in the way that Misplaced Pages parses javascript pages, curly braces are parsed as templates, unless they are inside of <nowiki>...</nowiki>, <pre>...</pre>, <syntaxhighlight>...</syntaxhighlight> ... As a result of this, your script page, User:Mattflaschen/monster.js, is generating links in Special:WantedTemplates (in particular links to Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Uw-" + number + " ). Recently, an interface editor attempted to fix this by adding <nowiki> at the top and </nowiki> at the bottom of your script page. This didn't work because you already have <nowiki>...</nowiki> on that page. It would be great if you could add <syntaxhighlight>...</syntaxhighlight> tags (you don't have these) at the top and bottom of your page like this which will prevent your page from generating links in Special:WantedTemplates.
