Mengly J. Quach Foundation is a philanthropic non-governmental organization of Mengly J. Quach Education focuses on creating positive change for Cambodia. It implements its programs in various areas of Cambodia.
History
Neak Oknha Mengly J. Quach, MD, MPH started doing his charitable works since he was 10 years old by helping to provide food to poor people in the US. He used to work in a charity that provided free medical services to the poor and homeless while he was a medical student. He stated that his grandparents and parents liked showing kindness to others and helping the most-in-need people. That was the reason he wants to give back to society. Quach emphasized that the success and sustainability of a certain company can be seen through its CSR projects. The more they create programs that benefit the society, the farther they’ll go in the business journey. To him, every stakeholder should take part in nation building, so that the country can develop further, people can enjoy peace and security. These good deeds and virtue inspired Neak Oknha Mengly J. Quach, MD, MPH to found Mengly J. Quach Foundation.
Cambodian Institute of Child and Adolescent Health (CICAH) was a local non-governmental organization established under the initiative of Neak Oknha Mengly J. Quach, MD, MPH in 2004 to promote education amongst many disadvantaged children through scholarships. In order to extend its activities, at the end beginning of 2013, CICAH has since been re-branded to Mengly J. Quach Foundation. In 2013, Mengly J. Quach Foundation officially became a registered organization in the Ministry of Interior with registration number 971, dated June 6, 2013.
Funds
The majority of its funds are the profits of Mengly J. Quach Education. MJQE staff and students help support Mengly J. Quach Foundation through various activities and events in order to help raise funds and other in-kind donations. Employees can contribute by deducting a small amount from their salary for charity purposes and it will go straight to fund the Foundation’s charity efforts. One of the most successful activities is "Talents for a Cause", where students of Aii Language Center and American Intercon School put on a special talent show and the proceeds from ticket sales go directly to the MJQ Foundation. The CSR activities are aligned with NGOs which are governed by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) of Cambodia.
Mengly J. Quach Foundation has activities that benefit the community almost every month. It includes scholarship programs while mobile clinic project is operated once every year. It also has mobile library every month and food banking twice a month. For food banking, they collect foods from those who want to donate and distribute them to poor communities. Usually, the mobile library and mobile clinic will also go along. To date, Mengly J. Quach Foundation has helped build one school in Kampong Chhnang and another in Kampong Cham while other more schools are on the waiting list. This is done under MJQ Public School Construction Project initiative.
