    Huge mistake

I accidentally just opened an AfD for the wrong page and have no idea what to do. I meant to open one for Candace (show) but instead opened it for Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/The Daily Wire (2nd nomination). Help please! TipsyElephant (talk) 00:26, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

Do I just do a speedy keep withdrawl and then reopen it for Candace (show) or can I move the deletion discussion or something? TipsyElephant (talk) 00:47, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

@TipsyElephant: No worries, the AfD has been speedy-closed, go ahead and create one for the show. --Nosebagbear (talk) 10:30, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

    About New Zealand

Hai I would like to ask, in New Zealand Vehicle driving side is Left or Right. In wikepide it's showing that 'Left '. But i think it is 'Right '. Please re-check — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.59.19.183 (talk) 08:29, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

Left- and right-hand traffic confirms, with a reference, that it's on the left. Do you have any reliable source for it being on the right? --David Biddulph (talk) 09:50, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
Does a webcam image from the NZ Transport Agency count as a reliable source? I don't think you'd want to enter this roundabout driving on the right: . AndyTheGrump (talk) 09:59, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
This similar NZ transport agency source confirms that they drive on the left-hand side of the road, whatever the traffic-cams look like. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:36, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
This, or a similar question, has come up before (at a different location). In countries where vehicles are driven on the left-hand side of the road the controls (steering wheel etc.) are typically, but not always, on the right-hand side of the car, (known as 'right-hand drive'). This can be confusing to someone not aware of the different terms. Eagleash (talk) 10:11, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
Indeed. I once got given a "lefties' desk calendar". Among the nuggets of information was that such-and-such a place had England's biggest centre for left-hand drive cars. The compilers presumably didn't realise that a left-hand drive car is what the Americans call "a car" - with the driver sitting on the left of the passenger. --ColinFine (talk) 11:48, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
@ColinFine: There is a dealer about 10 miles from me (London UK) who basically only deals in LHD vehicles – usually 'muscle cars'. They would definitely lay claim to that title! Eagleash (talk) 11:54, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
Agree with Eagleash - I've had to try and explain this this before - the confusion is "drives on the left" - which means drives on the left hand side of the road, whereas some people incorrectly assume it means the steering wheel is on the left hand side of the car. - Arjayay (talk) 13:43, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
I think you'll find the largest UK LHD car dealer is between the USAF airbases at Mildenhall and Lakenheath - Arjayay (talk) 13:48, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

Trying to revert identifies a proxy roadblock

I'm trying to revert vandalism at Joseph E. Brown. The vandalism is massive blanking. Trying to reverse it results in an error that there is reference to a local proxy, preventing me from saving it. I found no instances of "proxy" in the content or markup. Other than that, I don't know what to do to identify the text that's causing the roadblock. signed, Willondon (talk) 18:00, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

I'm a bit confused as well. It gives me 2 specific instances of it (one being "www.oxfordartonline.com.proxy.lib.duke.edu/") however when I Go to the revision before the vandalism and search for ".proxy" nothing comes up. ― Blaze WolfBlaze Wolf#6545 18:06, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

Tagging page as essay or how-to

Misplaced Pages:Trigger Warnings looks like an essay. Should it be labeled as such? I would stick in the template myself but I'm not sure of the process and classification. E.g., maybe it's a how-to. I find these banners useful to know how "official" a page is, so I think this page would benefit from one. Dhalamh (talk) 11:49, 8 February 2022 (UTC)

@Dhalamh: Hi there! It's already included in Category:Misplaced Pages essays about editing, so I think labelling it as such at the top would be fine. Template:Essay shows the varieties of templates you can use at the top of the essay. You could also create Misplaced Pages talk:Trigger warnings and start a conversation with the essay's author: WhatamIdoing. GoingBatty (talk) 15:46, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
@Dhalamh, I think you should read Misplaced Pages:Not every page needs a tag. Also, for context, if it doesn't have a tag that says "policy" or "guideline", then the status is "not official". Misplaced Pages:The difference between policies, guidelines and essays is subtle, and it is often unimportant.
As for the particular page, I'd forgotten that I'd written it, and I don't really care what tags are put on it. WhatamIdoing (talk) 16:52, 8 February 2022 (UTC)

line feed character in |title= at position 30 (help)

How do I fix this error? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Filipinohere (talkcontribs) 13:23, 8 February 2022 (UTC)

@Filipinohere: Typically, by fixing the (usually) fairly obvious gap where part of the title parameter has been moved on to a new line unnecessarily. Counting 30 characters along from the '=' sign should reveal where it is (if it is not already clear). There may be other complications in the ref. but without a link to the article concerned, cannot say. There should also be a blue 'help' link by the error msg. Redirect creation

Hello! So I've been thinking about creating redirects to American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 with the redirects being abbreviated versions of the name of the games (ATS and ETS2). My reasoning is that 1. this is a logical shortening of the names and 2. most people in the community when referring to them shorthand use ATS or ETS2. Would this be something that I could do and have it be constructive? I've been refraining from doing so because I don't want to cause issues by creating useless redirects (i've created a redirect before, Chevy Silverado EV however that's because there's pretty much a redirect with "Chevy" instead of "Chevrolet" for every vehicle made by the manufacturer) ― Blaze WolfBlaze Wolf#6545 14:16, 8 February 2022 (UTC)

ATS is a disambiguation page, with links to various pages, of which American Truck Simulator is one. ETS2 is an article, with a hatnote linking to Euro Truck Simulator 2 for those who weren't looking for the protein. --David Biddulph (talk) 14:24, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
Huh. Didn't know that. I thought I had attempted to search for the articles using those in the past but I must not have actually done so. If this weren't the case (and there were no other issues such as whether or not it's the primary topic or other things) would creating redirects like this be constructive? ― Blaze WolfBlaze Wolf#6545 14:26, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
Blaze Wolf, WP:RPURPOSE says that Reasons for creating and maintaining redirects include ... Abbreviations and initialisms (for example, ADHD redirects to Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). But often an abbreviation will have multiple meanings, none of which is a primary topic—in that case a disambiguation page should be created rather than a redirect. TSventon (talk) 15:02, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
I had read that and wasn't sure if that would apply in this case and wanted to make sure that just creating a redirect with that reasoning would be constructive. ― Blaze WolfBlaze Wolf#6545 15:04, 8 February 2022 (UTC)

7 month old merge proposal still unclosed

Hello! So recently I've been working on reviving WikiProject Nebraska and on the article alerts page, I noticed that there's a merge discussion that is over 7 months old at this point and yet was never closed. I'm not sure what exactly I'm supposed to do here. This should be closed (it's stale by now) however I'm not sure whether to close it as merge, no consensus, or something else since only 1 other person besides the nominator engaged in discussion. ― Blaze WolfBlaze Wolf#6545 18:18, 8 February 2022 (UTC)

I assume we're talking about Talk:List of cities in Nebraska#Merger_proposal? I would say that WP:SILENCE applies. Nobody has objected, so the merge can go forward. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:41, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
Alright sounds good. I don't know how to do the merge properly myself so I'll try and figure out how to mark it as closed with consensus for a merge so that someone else can do it. ― Blaze WolfBlaze Wolf#6545 18:43, 8 February 2022 (UTC)

    Setting up an image gallery

Hi there, I have been trying to set up an image gallery on the Eleanor Platt page with no success. I followed all of the instructions to code a gallery tag and none of them worked. I tried several of the gallery tag options in my sand box for a couple hours and couldn't get any of them to work. Could someone please tell me the right html code to use? I went to the Paul Manet page to see how they did it, but when I used the same coding on the EP page it didn't work. Very frustrating! There are several sections where I will need to set up galleries. One of the editors did leave me a note about it but I can't seem to fix it properly. Thanks for your help! Cabot215 (talk) 22:47, 8 February 2022 (UTC)

@Cabot215, see Help:Gallery tag. However the images at Eleanor Platt which you uploaded to Commons are in violation of copyright and must be removed. Only the copyright holders can upload these to Misplaced Pages with a proper license. See Misplaced Pages:Image use policy. StarryGrandma (talk) 00:32, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
Just because an image is free to view online does not mean it is free to copy and use. StarryGrandma (talk) 00:35, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
Leaving aside the issue of copyright (which you must not ignore, Cabot215), if you look at the source code in the article for bacteriochlorophyll you'll see how a simple gallery can be set up. Note that the "thumb" parameter is not used and neither is the "file" tag. Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:36, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

Hi there, all of the images have been generously provided by various museums and organizations with permission to use. There is no copyright violation as the pictures of the art are being shared by the owners of the art. If these are removed, then there will be no record on Misplaced Pages of her works. I am not sure why this is a problem given that I have not gotten them from the internet without permission. Cabot215 (talk) 18:23, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

@Cabot215, the museums who own the art are not the owners of the copyright. That belongs to the artist and their heirs. In any case the copyright owner either has to upload the work themselves, choosing the proper license, or communicate their permission directly to Commons. They must show they understand that anyone can use the image, not just Misplaced Pages, and can even use it commercially by selling copies. You uploaded to Commons saying that anyone can use the images for anything with proper credit, but you yourself do not have the right to say this. Nothing in the records at Commons say anything about anyone giving permission. See Commons:Licensing. StarryGrandma (talk) 22:10, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

    Merge columns in table

    Australian_Senate_committees#Membership_and_rules_of_committees

This section has a table discussing eight basic committee-related rules, and as five were changed several years ago, there are two columns to show their status before and after the change. Since the other three weren't changed (the two columns are identical), I'd like to have a single double-width box so it's instantly obvious that nothing changed in those areas. Is this possible? I tried blanking one of the two columns in the last row (deleting everything after the first "majority of members"), but when I previewed, the current boxes were still there, and the only change was that one was blank. 122.150.71.249 (talk) 03:41, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

How to create an 'External links' section on a page which doesn't have one

https://johnpeacepianist.wixsite.com/arthur-hutchings is the page on which I need to create an 'External links' section. I don't know how to do this. Please give instruction Corvedale (talk) 13:12, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

Corvedale You seem to have created the Section correctly here at Arthur Hutchings. Then you just need to put something like * to link to the website you've quoted here using a single square bracket round the link + text. More-or-less what you currently have but reversed. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:49, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
That page seems like something WP:SPS, but in context fairly harmless. However, the article needs better referencing. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:53, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
@Corvedale Also, in what sense is the picture in the article your "own work"? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:59, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

In uploading the image Misplaced Pages gave me two options "own work" or "copyright". Since there is no copyright on the image it seemed correct to select "own work". In detail - prior to my upload there was not a single image of Arthur Hutchings on the web. I would say he was "camera shy" as a personality - I knew him well, he was my professor. The photo was given in 1975 to his good friend and former student Ronald Burrow who helped me with my researches and gave me a copy of the photo. I cannot see any reason whatever why Misplaced Pages should question it. I hope this resolves the matter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Corvedale (talkcontribs) 14:13, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

@Corvedale: You should probably read WP:COPYVIO then. Because if you are claiming an image as your own work when it isn't your image, that would probably be a copy violation. ― Blaze WolfBlaze Wolf#6545 14:16, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
I think "own work" means you took the picture. It IS your "own work," not you "own" the work. Uporządnicki (talk) 14:18, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
@AzseicsoK except they didn't take the picture. Someone else gave it to them from what they just said. ― Blaze WolfBlaze Wolf#6545 14:20, 9 February 2022 (UTC)::
User:Blaze Wolf, yes, you're understanding me kind of backwards. First, I was really answering him, not you (should have pinged--mea culpa). I suspect he saw "own work," and thought, "Yeah, he gave it to me, so I guess I own the work." I was looking to explain to him that that's not what's meant by "own work." It hadn't occurred to me before, but that phrase "own work" could be understood two ways. Uporządnicki (talk) 14:28, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
@AzseicsoK: Ah ok. I thought you were trying to disprove what I said by saying that it would technically be their own work because they took the picture even though they told us they didn't. ― Blaze WolfBlaze Wolf#6545 14:32, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
Bottom line is that the website already quoted counts as publication for wp:NFCI purposes. So Corvedale needs to ask for deletion of the uploaded version from Commons and then use the non-free option of the upload wizard on English Misplaced Pages, carefully filling in the fair-use rationale and allowing the bot to lower the image resolution to our acceptable limits. Ask on my talk Page for help if you need it. Mike Turnbull (talk) 14:47, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
That. Since the subject is no longer alive, we can have this image in the article, it just has to be done in the bureaucratically correct way. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:39, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
User:Gråbergs Gråa Sång If by "the subject," you mean the person who appears in the photograph, then that person's being alive or dead has nothing to do with copyright. To boil it down to its (possibly over-) simplest, the original owner of Copyright in a work is the creator of the work--in this case, the photographer who took the picture. Uporządnicki (talk) 18:58, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
@AzseicsoK It has to do with WP:NFCCP. If he was alive, we couldn't use that, but now we can. It doesn't have to be this pic, but it may as well be. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:03, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
@Corvedale: You can't assume there is no copyright. Under modern laws, copyright exists automatically and doesn't require registration nor a copyright notice. To determine if copyright has expired, you would need to know when and where it was taken, the nationality of the photographer, when the photographer died, and circumstances of prior publication. In most countries there are specific provisions for anonymous or unknown-creator works, and they may be different for photographs versus say music or writing. See c:Commons:Anonymous works as a starting point. If you were using the upload wizard on Commons for a photo that you didn't yourself create, you would choose “This file is not my own work” then either “The copyright has definitely expired in the USA” or “Another reason not mentioned above” or “I found it on the Internet — I'm not sure”. (The local Misplaced Pages upload page has different choices.) ⁓ Pelagicmessages ) 18:30, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
@Everyone: the bigger issue is that there are historical photos which are worth preserving, and are unlikely to ever attract a takedown notice, but we can't host them because we are so strict about copyright and free licensing. ⁓ Pelagicmessages ) 18:46, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

Links to imdb that looks like wikilinks

I just noticed this in Tom_Donahue_(filmmaker)#This_Changes_Everything. Live and learn. Can we stop it somehow? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:47, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

I don't think that we can. Someone has to notice the external link icon next to the bluelink. Note that we even have some widely-used templates which deliberately put such links into articles. For example EC 2.1.2.2 and the like is widely used in articles on enzymes. Most of the sort of link you noticed could of course be turned into proper citations as an alternative to deletion and that would normally be preferable. Mike Turnbull (talk) 14:05, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
@Michael D. Turnbull, I'm not sure I understand you correctly. Your link looks fine, like an external link should. Zach Horowitz however, "masks" as a wikilink, which I find annoying. Also, imdb is very rarely a good citation. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:41, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
I see the issue. You even managed to fool me into thinking it was a page with the link on it. ― Blaze WolfBlaze Wolf#6545 14:43, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
Btw, I should have linked Tom_Donahue_(filmmaker)#Los_Tigres_Del_Norte_at_Folsom_Prison, it's more on point. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:42, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
Cirrus searches are notoriously unreliable, but these searches seem to suggest that there aren't all that many articles that use the interwikis:
    imdbname ~640
    imdbtitle ~790
There are four imdb interwikis listed at meta:Interwiki map.
Likely, most, if not all of them, can (should) be replaced with their template equivalents: {{imdb name}}, {{imdb title}}, etc.
Trappist the monk (talk) 14:45, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
@Gråbergs Gråa Sång: Yes, sorry, I looked at the edit history of the article and thought you were talking about this diff where you removed an EL. As you say, the Zach Horowitz type of link is more problematic and difficult to notice. Mike Turnbull (talk) 14:53, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
Thanks! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:54, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
That may be so in general, but in the specific case of the text in Tom_Donahue_(filmmaker)#Los_Tigres_Del_Norte_at_Folsom_Prison, those template equivalents would not fit. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:53, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
Things like imdbname:1920886 should never be used. We need to be very specific how we let users know they are leaving wikimedia. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski 15:03, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
That's what I'm thinking, though there may a legit use somewhere on WP. There's also WP:EL which is fairly clear. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:13, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
For this specific usage, which we all seem to agree is bad, can an edit filter be used? Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:16, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
If not, I may start going through TTM's lists manually. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:26, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
@Michael D. Turnbull, an editfilter wouldn't help with current content, would it? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:43, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
No, I don't think so but I'm not an expert. I'd happily assist you in purging the current ones from the search but I don't think that's a good idea until a filter is in place to prevent the issue arising again. Is this a topic for WP:VPT? Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:51, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
One can always ask. Misplaced Pages:Edit filter noticeboard perhaps? However, I don't think it's necessary to wait to start "cleaning." Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:03, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
@Michael D. Turnbull, other interested, asked at Misplaced Pages:Edit_filter_noticeboard#A_sort_of_imdb_edit_filter. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:45, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
I suppose one could also ask someone to look at it from a bot-perspective, but I don't feel hopeful that would work. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:17, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

Comment I'm told that these links have "good" uses on Wiktionary and Wikisource. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:51, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

I have a line in my CSS that at least underlines all interwikilinks so it becomes easier to notice them. (That doesn't help alert others to the problem, but may help you find them so you can fix them). —Kusma (talk) 17:23, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
Thanks, Kusma, that does indeed help and will be very useful if we start a clean-up. The line is .extiw{text-decoration:underline !important} in case others are interested. Mike Turnbull (talk) 17:37, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
Like TTM said, there are 2 other potentially problematic interwiki links, IMDbCompany (found it in 2 articles, dealt with) and IMDbCharacter (found it in 1 article, started afd), but they don't seem to be much of an issue. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:57, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

    Scope of English Misplaced Pages

Earlier today I came across a discussion at an article talk page where one user expressed the idea that "topic xxxx is about what it's called in Foo, that belongs on the Fooian Misplaced Pages. This Misplaced Pages is concerned about things in the English world". Experienced editors are generally aware that this idea is completely wrong, yet it's not an uncommon mistake by editors. However, I could not think of any place where this aspect of the scope of the English Misplaced Pages is properly explained; WP:SCOPE is entirely silent on the matter. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 15:45, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

Perhaps the statement to which you refer was somebody's interpretation of WP:COMMONNAME, where it says that an article title is that which is most commonly used in English-language sources. --David Biddulph (talk) 15:51, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
Well, Misplaced Pages:Scope#Scope_of_Wikipedia doesn't mention "English" at all, which it shouldn't have too. However, if you want to add something like "Though this is the English Misplaced Pages, that does not imply that ... though English language sources are preferred when available." I have no objection. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:58, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
WP:AIM does imply that the overall project is a comprehensive written compendium that contains information on all branches of knowledge. As such, it needs to make all subjects accessible to speakers in any language, although obviously the Japanese article on Tokyo might be more extensive in that language's version than here on the English version. Problem Uploading Image without text

In looking at the Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force page recently, I noticed that a number of photographs are missing, including my own. I uploaded a small jpg LGen Lloyd Campbell CMM CD but when I attempt to insert it, while the picture displays OK, it has accompanying text that should not be included. Can you assist in fixing this problem?

Also, since I know all of the individuals whose pictures are missing, is there someone who 'owns' this page and to whom one might send photos to make this page more complete? Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by YOW1 (talkcontribs) 16:57, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

@YOW1: Hello Yow! To answer your question about if someone owns the page, the answer is no. No one owns any page on Misplaced Pages. You can read more about this at WP:OWN. ― Blaze WolfBlaze Wolf#6545 17:02, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
@YOW1: For your first question, this edit should fix your problem. (The image syntax is often different inside templates, which is not obvious for newcomers). If you have additional pictures that could be included, one option would be to mention them at the discussion page: Talk:Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force. To find out who wrote the article (and might have more information), check the page history: Kusma (talk) 17:21, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
@YOW1: you are free to upload those images yourself, but only if you own the copyrights to the images: this is not the same as ownership of a physical photograph. If you personally take a picture with your own camera, you own the copyright to the image. The subject of the picture does not own the copyright, but it you ask each of your colleagues to upload a self-made picture, they may do so. I'm very sorry this is so complicated. The complexity is in copyright law, which we try hard to follow as best we can. -Arch dude (talk) 20:05, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

Vandalism in Search Result Page Preview

I noticed in the search results page preview on Duck Duck Go for Indie Arie, the phrase "a hypocrite of an American singer and songwriter," whereas on the actual page it just reads "an American singer and songwriter." The vandalism doesn't show up in the Google search results.

I don't know how to fix that.

@Paulreynv: If there's a mismatch between what the search results say and what the article says, assume it's because the search engine hasn't updated its results or its cache to reflect the most recent edit, rather than anything malicious. Edits which adjust the lede take a little bit to update on search engines, depending on how frequently it crawls the page. —A little blue Bori v^_^v 19:40, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
Paulreynv, that is a piece of vandalism which was in our article India Arie for seven minutes yeaterday, before it was reverted. Similar dab pages

I have created a dab page for Selection Committee, with a link in the See also section to the dab page Committee of Selection. Hello ‪TSventon‬,

I placed a request to update the Norco College logo. Originally it had the athletic logo, and you changed it to the official logo, but my boss would like it be the visual brand logo (similar to what we have on our college website thumbnails). It is available under visual marks in our brand guide and is also the same maroon color. The file name is: Norco-logo-vertical-color. Are you able to update one more time. This will be in line with our official branding guidelines.

Here is the page with the visual logo I am referencing: https://www.norcocollege.edu/about/Pages/identity.aspx

(edit conflict)@Ak-eater06: I guess you are talking about the events at Andrew Scheer. A few of points to note: Firstly, the other editor involved (Toddst1) is not an Admin. Not any more - he retired from that role. He is now an editor with the same rights as you or me - although he is a hugely experienced and well regarded editor, so I think his opinion is well worth taking seriously. Secondly, you will notice that his comments all refer back to Misplaced Pages policies and guidelines, rather than just his own personal views - unlike your insistence to keep adding unsourced information to a BLP. It was not a single mistake; you kept putting it back in spite of being told why it was not suitable (breaking the three revert rule in the process). Thirdly, the only personal insults I can see are the ones you used, calling him an "angry user who wants to create conflict". In future, I suggest you stick to the issue, and take content disputes to the Talk page of the article per BRD. You might also like to read WP:CIVIL.--Gronk Oz (talk) 09:28, 10 February 2022 (UTC)

Something to Add about Grand Central Station

Hello Editor, I was reading about Grand Central Station Terminal in New York on Misplaced Pages when I noticed the paragraph on films made in Grand Central Station Terminal throughout the years. I have a film on DVD that was not mentioned which does feature Grand Central Station Terminal in the final scene of the film. The film is called Hold Your Man and it is a 1933 film done by Metro Goldwyn Mayer. It starred Clark Gable and Jean Harlow. I definitely saw on the last final scene, Grand Central Station in all its glory. You can see the movie for yourself and research it, you will see it there. Please add that detail to the information about the station in your Misplaced Pages. Thank you in advance. Thank you for the great work. I would like to update the logo for the radio station I program, but was unable to do so. Instead, the upload was flagged. I reported the issue and received an email from "Jeff G." directing me to the "Please do not advertise on Commons" paragraph. This is not for the intent of advertising. I simply want to ensure that our Misplaced Pages page is as up to date as possible and given we recently changed the station logo (along with the 3 other stations I program), I would like to replace the old logo with the new one. If this is considered advertising, then how did the old logo get their in the first place. Also, how do other radio stations go about updating their logos? I realize that Misplaced Pages Moderators deal with numerous issues daily and only have a short time to address each of them, but the response by Jeff G. has left me no apparent recourse, except through this message, and we are stuck with an outdated Misplaced Pages page. There are two ways to upload files for use at Misplaced Pages: You can upload locally for files that are being claimed as fair use, which will allow very limited use in Misplaced Pages articles. See WP:NFCC for more information. If you are uploading a file for general use across all Wikimedia projects, you would use Wikimedia Commons, but they have much stricter requirements for what can be uploaded; and require you to be the copyright holder of the work you upload, and ALSO require you to release the work under a reuse license such as CC-BY-SA. What you want to do is upload the file locally, fill out the NFCC paperwork for limited use at Misplaced Pages, and then you should be okay. --Jayron32 17:28, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
Unless the logo is free of copyright (or the copyright holder wishes to release the copyright for anyone to use, including commercially), it can't be uploaded to Commons. Logos for use on enwiki are usually uploaded to enwiki with a fair use rationale; see advice at WP:logos. --David Biddulph (talk) 17:30, 10 February 2022 (UTC)

Dispute Over Moderna Page: Part 2

    Hello

User Zefr seems to have taken issue with the following sections on the Moderna page.

Vaccine patent dispute Moderna is involved in a patent dispute with the NIH over its Covid-19 vaccine. Link According to the NIH, three of its scientists played a major role in developing the vaccine. Link The NIH had already been working with the company for four years. Moderna first refuted the claim entirely, and only recently has it backed down. Link

Company culture In 2016, the health oriented news website STAT described Moderna's work environment as "caustic". Employees recounted abusive emails, dressings down at company meetings, exceedingly long hours, high turnover in leadership, and unexplained terminations. Link

Tax avoidance According to the non-profit, Research on Multinational Corporations, Moderna avoids paying corporate taxes through its Swiss subsidiary "Moderna Switzerland GmbH". On top of that, the company registers its patents in U.S. Delaware, where royalties, including vaccine profits, are not taxed at all. Link

According to him, the sections rely on outdated and biased information. He also claims that Moderna's Swiss and Delwaare tax schemes should not be added because they are prevailing. A claim he has so far refused to substantiate.

What needs to be done to improve these sections? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Surge Of Reason (talkcontribs) 17:36, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
