John McIntyre is a self-described admirer, for example, of right-wing former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet .
The website's administrators also do not allow politically liberal columnists to write for them, only allowing right-wing columnists, such as George Will, Gerard Baker, Thomas Sowell, Oliver North, Lawrence Kudlow and Fred Barnes. This selection of column writers, as well as the overall tone of editorials, helps to define RealClearPolitics' political leanings to be right-of-center.
Every day a wide range of columns and news stories from across the Internet are aggregated on the website.
RealClearPolitics also compiles averages of major political polls on various elections throughout the United States to give a broader view of the race.
The site's political commentary, election analysis and polling averages have been featured in many national media outlets amongst which are The New York Times, FOX News Channel, CNN, The Economist, Investor's Business Daily, and The Chicago Sun-Times.
