No final "s" in "occur(s)" ?

Your last sentence : "I'm not certain what you are asking, but I assume you are asking a question about grammar regarding the use of "occur" vs "occurs" in this statement: "a cataclysm and re-establishment of dharma occur". The singular verb is "occurs". Since there are two items (#1 cataclysm; #2 re-establishment of dharma), the plural verb "occur" is used. It deals with subject-verb agreement. BTW, to talk to me directly, I would suggest doing it on my user talk page. Jroberson108 (talk) 20:35, 3 November 2020 (UTC)"

Ok, but, if you have two items, "a cataclysm" and "re-establishment", you must have also twice the determinative "a", one by item, haven't you ? Hello, Madam/Sir. VirguloMane (talk) 10:21, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

Repeating the indefinite article "a" for two noun phrases sounds more common. I modified it on the Yuga Cycle page. I found a few discussions on this, but no grammatical rule: .Jroberson108 (talk) 18:13, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

Email question on sandhyansa

@VirguloMane: I received your email question. I will respond here. Feel free to ask future questions on talk pages and ping me using Template:Reply_to as I did for your username.

Question: Which could be the meaning of "sandhyansa", more or less?

Answer: A sandhi is a period of time that either starts or ends a larger period of time. Each of the four yugas start and end with these periods. The starting period (dawn/morning) is called the sandhyā and the ending (dusk/evening) is called the sandhyānśa, or more popularly sandhyāṃśa. Click the links on the Sanskrit words to see their numerous translations. For example, the flow of time around Kali Yuga is in this order:

  1. ...
  2. Dvapara-yuga-sandhyamsa (dusk/evening; 72,000 years)
  3. Kali-yuga-sandhya (dawn/morning; 36,000 years)
  4. Kali-yuga (Kali-yuga proper; 360,000 years)
  5. Kali-yuga-sandhyamsa (dusk/evening; 36,000 years)
  6. Krita-yuga-sandhya (a.k.a. Satya Yuga; dawn/morning; 144,000 years)
  7. ...

There is also a manvantara-sandhya that separates two manvantaras. Jroberson108 (talk) 18:37, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Some kinds of "transition periods", if I understand... Thanks to you. :-) 'Bye. VirguloMane (talk) 20:26, 21 January 2021 (UTC)

What-If... Let's just say

If kali yuga ends in 2025 will my body age increase and will have divine powers like summoning Astras? 950CMR (talk) 17:56, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

@950CMR: Kali Yuga ending in 2025 is a recent invention that has no bases on Hindu texts. According to Hindu texts, the end of Kali Yuga is far from now, where we are still in the beginning sandhya. Hypothetically speaking, if you were alive when Kali Yuga ends, your lifespan wouldn't change since your karma from previous lives dictates this life's lifespan in the sense that you only have so many breaths or heart beats. As far as attaining Siddhis or powers, they are attained through strict meditation and yogic practices (not given freely with no effort), which can alter one's lifespan in the sense that you slow your breathing and heart beat; thereby, extending your lifespan.

Actually Dwapara yuga didn't lasted that long honestly if we were to talk about ramayana events happened in 70K BCE and mahabharata events happened in 30K bce according to scientists and astronomers and the ending of events of ramayana was likely the end of Treta Yuga therefore the end of kali yuga is a possibility since Dwapara yuga lasts for 800k years people still thinks that we're in Dwapara yuga if we were in Dwapara yuga our lifespan would be minimum atleast 800 hundred years 950CMR (talk) 19:09, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

@Liz: Will do. Thanks for the info. Jroberson108 (talk) 22:20, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

Accessibility (scope) changes

What do your changes to Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/Texas medical cases by county do - I notice that the county names are no longer bold nor centered? Scratch that, are the changes something that should be rolled out to other such tables? I can easily do this with the other tables I edit. I machine generate the markup and simply would need to change boilerplate in two spreadsheet cells. EphemeralErrata (talk) 10:50, 10 February 2022 (UTC)

@EphemeralErrata: scope="row" is an attribute that should go on the row header that describes that row's data. They were incorrectly used before. In the case of your tables, the row headers are each location. If you want it bold and centered, then you can try removing the "plainrowheaders" class used on the table. Yes, all tables should have that change. Jroberson108 (talk) 11:00, 10 February 2022 (UTC)

Edit warring BMI

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Body mass index shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
