The Seattle Seahawks as well as the Denver Broncos, have officially traded 76.112.226.128 (talk) 19:48, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

Not done for now: Not official. The trade can't be officially announced until Wednesday, March 16 at 4 p.m. ET, which is the start of the 2022 league year. As of right now, this is as official as his trade to the Chicago Bears. Remember that? – Muboshgu (talk) 19:54, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

Russell Wilson was just traded to the Denver Broncos, so that needs to be updated from the Seattle Seahawks. You can find sources through ESPN, NFL, Ian Rapaport. All are credible and have reported it. 64.255.134.193 (talk) 22:39, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

Did they? Funny, because The trade is pending a physical and Wilson waiving his no-trade clause, and it cannot be finalized until the new league year begins March 16. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:01, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

Not done for now: Per above, wait till it's official. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 14:16, 9 March 2022 (UTC)

I get it that the trade has yet to be formalised but there should at least be a line in the lead stating something along the lines that 'On 8 March 2022 multiple sports media outlets reported that Seattle had agreed a trade with the Denver Broncos' or words to that effect accompanied by the multiple published sources accross the media.

Misplaced Pages us a little behind on this; I note even Overthecap have him listed as a Broncos player.

Do you also think that there should be a sentence about the trade to the Bears that everyone insisted on adding last year? – Muboshgu (talk) 16:34, 9 March 2022 (UTC)

New Trade confirmed by AP sources

AP sources have confirmed the Russell Wilson trade to Denver, and I believe this should be counted as enough evidence to confirm the trade. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zainnq (talkcontribs) 03:10, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

What part of The trade is pending a physical and Wilson waiving his no-trade clause, and it cannot be finalized until the new league year begins March 16 is unclear? – Muboshgu (talk) 04:00, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

"Official Sources" and Trade Deadlines

In the interest of saving headache for many people that want to edit Russ onto the Broncos (and also Muboshgu who has to remind everyone the trade doesn't occur until the 16th), it should be noted that "official sources" from the team do not announce things until the transactions officially occur on that date. This means that any general announcements for the trade, while we know 99.9% are going to happen, do not count as sources that can be reliably cited on Misplaced Pages. These include Adam Schefter's tweets or ESPN articles.

For reference, please see the Matthew Stafford talk page. During the Jared Goff trade, many people were arguing for the page to be changed, despite the trade not actually taking place until months after the fact. I thought it was important to note that the teams had not announced the trade because the transaction hadn't occurred yet. Once the Rams and Lions had announced these trades, they would officially count as credible sources, and the pages would be able to be changed.

Barring some weird event, Russell Wilson is going to Denver. Don't change the pages haphazardly because that changes the credibility of the Misplaced Pages pages, then you get things like Tom Brady retiring before he announced it.
