Warrington Worldwide

Warrington Worldwide is a local, daily news website and monthly magazine published in Warrington in a magazine format. Founded in April 1999, it was the first independent online daily newspaper in the United Kingdom and is published by Orbit News Ltd.

The printed version of the monthly magazine is freely distributed in full colour and is available on the website.

The magazine publishers Orbit News Ltd was formed by father and son, David Skentelbery and Gary Skentelbery.

History

Orbit News Ltd was originally set up as a freelance news agency based in Warrington by David Skentelbery, who previously worked on the Knutsford Guardian, Warrington Guardian, The Post and The Chronicle.

The agency was orginally named New Warrington Press Service and was launched in 1968 when Warrington became a new Town.

Original offices for New Warrington Press Service were on Horsemarket Street in Warrington, followed by Froghall Lane.

For the past 20 years, Warrington Worldwide have been based at The New Media Centre in Warrington.

Hannah Skentelbery became a third generation family member of the business, appointed as Director of Digital Marketing in July 2021.
