Assessment comment

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Marianna Hill/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

There is confusion about which Marianna Hill is being referred to here. There was one born in 1941 and another in 1954. The one born in 1954 could not have been the Marianna Hill that acted in the Star Trek episode in 1966-67.

Birthplace

Was going to change her birthplace based on this interview, but see that there is a cite for her having been born in California. For those who don't follow the link, Hill says she was actually born in Santa Barbara de Nexe, Portugal. http://hillplace.blogspot.com/2016/12/medium-cool-marianna-hill-interview.html

  • @Sir Rhosis: @Sah10406: Please note: official California birth records can't be accessed online directly. It's necessary to contact the State by mail and send $. There are websites that claim to access the records, but THAT WASN'T INCLUDED WHEN THE REFERENCE WAS CITED/CREATED. This smacks of slight of hand, to put it politely. While the Hill Place Blog is not an inherently reliable source, it's not inherently unreliable. Details check out throughout the interview, they style of the person ostensibly being quoted is consistent, and the Chief Zabu info is recent, and the photos, and recent history, seem to dovetail with reality. Someone please explain the claim to have accessed (AND LISTED!!!) official public records. Tapered (talk) 05:19, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
Just removed official California birth records reference and added another possible birthplace. The reason for the removal and the interview which casts doubt on California as her birthplace are both mentioned above. Tapered (talk) 04:22, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

Removal of date and place of birth

Yesterday, I removed the date and place of birth with the following edit summary:

Removed date and place of birth and California Birth Index citation. WP's Manual of Style specifies, ""Do not use trial transcripts and other court records, or other public documents, to support assertions about a living person. Do not use public records that include personal details, such as date of birth, ..."

Today I received a request: "... please use the Talk section to link directly to the policy mentioned for edits like this. Visiting the Manual of Style page doesn't turn up this policy. It required several more clicks."

The relevant section is Misplaced Pages:Biographies of living persons#Avoid misuse of primary sources, which can also be reached via WP:BLPPRIMARY. I apologize for inadequate documentation of the edit. Eddie Blick (talk) 23:03, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
