Lurin Jyoti Gogoi is the former General Secretary of All Assam Students' Union(2015-2020) and a student leader of Assam. He is currently the President of the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJAP for short).
Political life
While studying at the undergraduate level from Tinsukia College, Lurinjyoti became involved in Aasu (All Assam Students' Union). He was later elected General Secretary of Aasu in 2015 under the chairmanship of Dipanka Nath. In November 2020, Lurinjyoti Gogoi resigned as the General Secretary of the All Assam Students' Union.He later became involved in active politics and contested the 2021 Assembly elections from Duliajan and Naharkatiya constituencies. In both the constituencies, the first phase of the Assam Assembly elections was held on March 26, 2021. Lurin Jyoti was defeated by Terash Gowala of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Duliajan constituency and Taranga Gogoi, a BJP candidate from Naharkatiya.
