"Candy Line"
Song

"Candy·Line" is Hitomi Takahashi's 6th single under the Sony Records (gr8! records) label, and will be released on March 7, 2007, four months after her previous single "Ko·mo·re·bi."

Overview

"Candy·Line (キャンディ・ライン, Kyandei·Rain)" is Hitomi Takahashi's 6th single, and is the 4th ending theme song to the anime Gin Tama as of January 7th. The single will come with a wide "Gin Tama" sticker, along with an original "Gin Tama" calendar. Also, to commemorate the release of this single, Hitomi will be holding a special live titled HITOMI TAKAHASHI LIVE "Candy·Line" on March 29th. For promotion of this single, various commercials with Gintoki from Gin Tama and Hitomi Takahashi herself have been airing on Japanese televisions.

As her previous two singles, "Candy·Line" is being produced by ex-Judy and Mary member TAKUYA. The main song is described as a pop rock tune, which will remind the listener of the heyday of Judy and Mary, and will give Hitomi a "new appeal." The b-side song, "Kanjiru Mama," is being produced by Gagaga SP member Kuwahara Yasunobu, and is said that it will become the center of attention on the punk scene.

Music Video

A screen capture of the music video.

The music video for the single first aired on the television show M-ON! on February 15, 2007. The music video was directed by Jun'ya Masuyama. The music video starts off with Hitomi walking towards a swinging door, and when she enters the other side of the doors, her outfit changes completely. She then starts singing in front of the door with a swinging red pole in front of it. The pole mimics her every mouth movement until it stops when turns around to look at it. The scene changes, and Hitomi is seen struggling to walk because of a shadow attached to her feet. When sitting down and gazing questioningly at the shadow, the shadow's eyes glow pink, and it turns around and reveals itself to be a skeleton, prompting Hitomi to scream in a humorous manner (as seen in the screen capture). The chorus then proceeds to start, and Hitomi, wearing a red shirt, a long red overcoat with black stripes, and jeans, starts singing with a skeleton band. Upon the chorus's end, Hitomi is seen resting on a patch of grass. She gets up, and is immediately followed by a "lawn man" playing a guitar. After finally escaping, the suns in the pictures on the wall blow on the lawn man, causing his true form, the shadow man from before, to be revealed. Four shadow men, who begin to dance around her, soon surround Takahashi – she eventually joins dancing with them. Once again the chorus starts, and Hitomi is seen with the skeleton band, and, during the second chorus and guitar solo, the room sparks with small amounts of electricity. The end of the music video features Hitomi singing in front of the mimicking door again. This time, however, she approaches the door, and boldly looks on the other side of the door. What she finds causes her to gap in horror, though what is behind the door is never revealed to the watcher.
