Dingle (Irish: An Daingean Mór) is a small town in County Kerry, Republic of Ireland, situated on the Atlantic coast 80km west-south-west of Tralee and 100km west-north-west of Killarney. The town lies beside a natural harbour and Slievanea mountain on the Dingle peninsula, a large peninsula south of the River Shannon and north of the Ring of Kerry.
Principal industries in the town are tourism and fishing. Dingle has a population of 1828 (CSO 2002).
The town has many opportunities to hear traditional celtic music, particularly in the summer tourist season. For a number of years it has been possible to rely on a resident dolphin named Fungi showing up for tour boats operating from the harbour.
Famous GAA commentater Michael O Muircheartaigh was born there in 1930.
