The main language of the region is Khowar. There are also smaller communities of speakers of Dameli, Gawar-Bati, Kalasha, Kyrgyz, Kataviri/Kamviri, Mdaglashti Dari, Palula, Pashto, Persian, Sariquli, Tajik, Uzbek, Wakhi, and Yidgha.
