Some people believe that when they notice the number 1111 or the time 11:11, that there is an underlying reason besides mere chance or coincidence. A belief of this nature is related to the idea of synchronicity.

Beliefs about the significance of the number vary greatly, some interpret it as a message of luck; George Mathieu Barnard describes it as a message from angels in his book "Search for 11:11: A Journey into the Spirit World."

Media coverage

An increasingly predominant theory behind the 11:11 synchronicity occurrence is attributed to a convergence of eschatological prophecies as suggested by the Mayan Calendar. According to the Mayan Calendar (http://www.alignment2012.com/mayacosmo.htm) and NASA (http://www-istp.gsfc.nasa.gov/stargaze/StarFAQ16.htm#q264) the next Winter Solstice will occur on December 21st, 2012 A.D. at 11:11 AM GMT (12-21-2012 at 11:11 AM GMT also written as 21-12-2012 at 11:11 AM GMT). This event represents an extremely close conjunction of the Winter Solstice Sun with the crossing point of the Galactic Equator and the Ecliptic Path of the Sun. The ancient Maya recognized this event as the Sacred Tree and the beginning of a new Golden Era on the planet Earth.

George Noory has talked about his beliefs on his program Coast to Coast AM. He interviewed several guests about their beliefs regarding the time 11:11 including, Solara of NVisible; and Johnny Rose and Peter Melton of The Oneness Minute Campaign..

Melton and Rose described the Oneness Minute Campaign as

an experiment set to begin on 11/11/06 that seeks to add positive energy to the planet

. Solara stated that

Whenever you see 11:11 it is really a positive thing

She believes that seeing this number combination is a "pre-encoded trigger" that is meant to activate you when you reach a certain level of awakening

John Gilmore, a general manager of Knology's Knoxville office made the news when he was fired for stating that the world would end on November 11, 2005.
