The Wieambilla police shootings were the 2022 murders of Queensland Police officers, Constables Matthew Arnold and Rachel McCrow and a civilian, Alan Dare, on a rural property at Wieambilla, a locality in Queensland, Australia. The perpetrators, two men (Nathaniel and Gareth Train) and a woman, were shot dead by Queensland police responding to the incident.
The murders occurred on the afternoon of 11 December 2022. Investigating reports of a missing person (Nathaniel Train), four police officers attended a rural property at Wieambilla, a rural locality 270 kilometres (170 mi) north west of the state capital, Brisbane. On arrival, armed offenders shot the police in what was described as an "ambush". Arnold and McCrow were critically wounded and a third officer escaped to raise the alarm. A neighbour, Alan Dare, investigating the gunfire, was also shot and died
Later that evening, Queensland Police raided the property and fatally shot two men and a woman believed to be the perpetrators.
Before the incident
Queensland Police were asked to conduct a check on a missing person at the Wieambilla property by the New South Wales Police Force as part of an ongoing missing persons case. New South Wales police reported this missing person would occasionally make contact with people. however after this missing person had not made contact for several days, concerns about their safety and wellbeing were raised which required police to visit their last known location and perform a welfare check.
