PorygonZ (ポリゴンZ, Porigon Zetto, PolygonZ in original Japanese language versions) are one of the fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar Pokémon media franchise—a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards, and other media created by Satoshi Tajiri. The purpose of PorygonZ in the games, anime, and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon—untamed creatures that characters encounter while embarking on various adventures— and tamed Pokémon creatures owned by Pokémon trainers.

Biological characteristics

PorygonZ's appearance is similar to that of Porygon and Porygon2, which were supposedly earlier designs by Silph Co. The programming added to create PorygonZ was intended to allow it to surpass all other Pokémon; however, as a result, PorygonZ began to exhibit strange behaviors.

This Pokémon also has a more agile appearance; it is slimmer, and its "legs" from Porygon2 evolved into "wings". Its tail is below the body, as opposed to in the back, as with the forms before it. Its neck seems to have disappeared as well. Its color, which was a cotton candy blue and pink in it's previous forms is now darker, making it less luminescent. Its eyes are also decidedly different from its previous two forms. It appears to have an antenna as well. It has a shape that resembles either a satellite or a hummingbird.

In the video games

It has been confirmed that wild Porygon are available in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. By trading a Porygon with the Up-Grade item, it becomes Porygon2; trading Porygon2 with the Eerie Patch results in PorygonZ. This makes it the first Pokémon to evolve twice by trade. It also has the highest Special Attack stat of the Normal type and of any non-legendary (equal to that of Alakazam), improved from that of its pre-evolution. Its Speed is also improved significantly. Although its defenses have been decreased, it can outrun nearly anything that poses a threat to it, most notably several Fighting Pokémon. Its abilities are Download and Adaptive: the former raises either PorygonZ's Attack or Special Attack, depending on the foe's defensive stats; and the latter boosts the power of all same-type attacks.
