GLB and sometimes T

A discussion for another day perhaps? ;) Take Care, AnyA 19:17, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Indeed. And good luck, ok? Got your message - Alison 19:25, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

The fight continues! (As long as i am around to keep my CRASS vinyl spinnin' ;) AnyA 19:30, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for adding the info: What you've just done is more than they have accomplished in the last year for us oddly enough since this law passed. Now we have something to point to when we create all our lovely links ;) Total sweetness, thanks again AnyA 19:39, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the link update 8-) I didn't want to post it if people wouldn't like it. Some minor changes to our site i believe make it 'more appealing' to a broader audience as well (Just finished them...) Thanks again for the assist - We appreciate it greatly! AnyA 23:16, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

  • FYI, Insurance Discrimination was one of the top 3 things we won with HB 2661. I noticed the new page others created and was delighted. I did however make one addition and added insurance. This is a major issue for transgender persons especially everywhere; access to medical care free from discrimination ;) AnyA 12:04, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
  • 'Legislative History' and 'Fiscal Notes' external links added today to HB 2661 in regards to the historic legislature which passed here in WA State. This law includes a group of persons with unique needs and issues; Fiscal allocation/requests for support are relevant whereas civil rights law enforcement support is concerned. AnyA 20:07, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Allie, i wanted to ask for your help with something. I uploaded an image and am not sure how to label it... please view my info page and you will see... I submitted a question to wiki but i know you are smart so i figured i'd ask you too ~ AnyA 21:01, 20 February 2007 (UTC) (ps. I love the new pic ;)

  • I appreciate the assist with the image tag! I was admittedly stumped. Wiki is all about asking other people for help when you need it too ;) That is what in part, makes it so great to participate in! AnyA 10:48, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
  • No problem at all :) Yep - WP is all about co-operation so just dig in and get editing! If you need any help on anything at all, just ask :) - Alison 17:22, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Hey

Just wondering why you like Ireland so much. I live here and I hate it and I plan to emigr8 ASAP! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Igorndhaswog (talkcontribs)

Ali's Pic

Your pic looks pretty witchy,
Yet wouldn't say you're bitchy,
But if I should dare get itchy,
Would you get strictly ditchy?

Irish flag image

Ali, thanks for the note about IRL FLAG.jpg. Unfortunately my s/w (PSP) doesn't support saving images in SVG format (neither does MS Paint). Could you do it - download the current image and re-process it? Cheers, Arcturus 19:39, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Oh well

It was bound to happen someday :) I'll take the congratulations, thank you very much, and thanks for your support. Fvasconcellos 15:44, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Thank you, of course I don't mind! You leave the house for one day, and the kids make a mess of everything... ;) Fvasconcellos 14:30, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello Alison!

Let me know what you think of this 1347 in Ireland; am I going into too much depth, wandering too much from other Year's in style? Fergananim 17:33, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Ireland flag

Hi Alison. Thanks for doing the vectorised version of the Irish flag. Interesting! The colours have shifted slightly in this version, particularly the green. Do you know if converting to SVG affects how the pantone colours appear? I'm now wondering whether the SVG format actually gives a better representation of the true colours. It appears that it might, if SVG does reflect the pantone palette acurately. I'll have to look for an Irish flag for real, but there aren't that many about in England. Here's where I derived the orginal from . There's a discussion here about the two colour versions. Thanks again. Arcturus 22:46, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

WP:LGBT Coordinator Election Notice

This is just a quick, automated note to let you know that there is an election being conducted over the next 7 days for the position of "Coordinator" for the LGBT WikiProject. Your participation is requested. -- SatyrTN (talk · contribs)

Humor alarm

Dear Alison: Your edits, as in this diff, have shown traces of a sense of humor, which is disruptive of the serious, somber, and relentlessly grim mood that so many other good people in all walks of life have exhibited just before burning out entirely. Be advised that if you continue on this present course, you face the risk of enjoying yourself while at work on this project, and you may even have a similar effect on other editors. Please consider very carefully whether you want to be responsible for such consequences. Thank you. — Sebastian 05:59, 13 February 2007 (UTC) -- — Sebastian 05:59, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

GnRH antagonists

Hi again! You probably noticed, but ganirelix now has a structure, and I'm working on abarelix and cetrorelix—should be done tomorrow, hopefully. Sorry for being so slow, but I'm really swamped with work. I'll let you know as soon as they're both done. Fvasconcellos 00:08, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi Alison

Apparently you have removed links that I contributed to the 'Link Extension' and 'Plastic Surgery' entries. However you have not explained the specific reason for this. Both links are very specific to the topic and provide free access to information without advertising.

Each link has been added once again, in its original form. If you attempt a block (as you have threatened to do) without providing a specific reason for the removal, I will challenge your action to the extent suggested by the Misplaced Pages guidelines.

If you are not the person responsible for the removals, please ignore this message.

  • Hi Larry. Your contributions to-date have been nothing but links to the same site/search engine. This is known as linkspamming. Please read WP:EL for more details. Misplaced Pages is not a collection of links, and the above pages are already saturated with links. Please also read WP:COI as I believe there is a conflict of interests in you case. By all means, if you're dissatisfied with this, feel free to ask for assistance of an administrator but I'm standing over my edits and those of the other three editors that reverted your spamming. Please also check WP:3RR first. I also note that you deleted all the other links too. Not nice.
  • I also note that 70.162.122.57 spammed the exact same site to the same pages and stopped just as your account was created and began doing the same thing. Not only that, but other links were deleted while this one was being spammed. The Plastic surgery article was repeatedly hit with this site - up to seven times. Care to comment?- Alison 04:58, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks so much!

Thanks so much for fixing so many of the references in the Transsexualism article. I know it can be dirty work, and I want you to know that it's appreciated, at least from someone.  :) Happy editing in the future! --Puellanivis 00:09, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Oh, thank you! It was a total pain to do but I think the article looks a lot better as a result. Hope to hit up some more related articles. Thank you for the encouragement! :) - Alison 00:39, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Once more, thank-you for the extensive reference work on the transsexualism article Lwollert 14:58, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks! And well done on adding more info to the aetiology section. I just tidied up the refs a bit :) - Alison 17:51, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Monthly Challenge: Find 5 editors to LGBT articles and invite them to the project! Check out our recruitment tips if you need them. Good luck!

Project News
  • With such rapid development of the project, it was decided that a Coordinator was needed to ensure all the fiddly maintenence was kept up. Elections were held and Dev920 (talk · contribs) has been elected Coordinator for the next three months. She said "I am honoured and proud to be at the helm of such a fantastic WikiProject and look forward to our future". Congratulations Dev!
  • The assessment system continues to be a great success, we have tagged over 5200 articles! Please tag any LGBT related articles you come across by adding {{LGBTProject | class=}} to the talkpage. Please see the Assessment Department for how to assess an article according to the grading system.
  • Jumpaclass is proving to be quite successful! The winner at the end of the year gets to pick the January collaboration, so sign up and get going! Or challenge another user to see how far you can jump a stub!
  • A new Community department has been set up to foster community amongst our members. It mostly acts as other WikiProjects' Outreach department, but also has a Quilt to which every member is entitled to add a square containing anything of their choice.
  • The peer review is not getting much custom - please notice you can cross-list other peer reviews from different projects that also fall within our scope.
  • Many people still seem to be unaware that the Deletion sorting subpage exists for XfDs to be listed: please use and watch that page instead of issuing "alerts" for ordinary AfDs on the project talkpage.
  • WP:FILM has a current drive to give every film article an infobox. WP:LGBT successfully gave all 105 LGBT infoboxless films infoboxes, so a big thank you to everyone who participated.
  • A new template, LGBT-footer, has been created for articles which are becoming to cluttered with infoboxes. Thanks to WJBscribe and SatyrTN for creating it.
  • A very basic resources page has been started. Please add to it as you come across useful sites.
  • A promotional poster for the project has been created: http://wplgbt.tripod.com/Wikipedianeedsyou.doc (you have to directly cut and paste the url, or it won't let you download it). Please distribute anywhere and everywhere you desire, such as gay libraries, cybercafes, community centres and so on. Also, please let Dev920 know where you have put it up, so she can keep track of our coverage.
  • An LGBT Publications Taskforce has been proposed. Please sign up here if you are interested in being involved.
  • An LGBT WikiProject has been set up on the Spanish Misplaced Pages! Set up by Raystorm, it has already gained six members and is developing an assessment system. If you speak any Spanish, please consider going up and lending a hand if you can!

Cheers for sorting out my TOC, had to look close to see what you'd done, but its better now - not going to revert you :) Would have done it mayself if I had a clue about writing stuff like that - guess it is your profession! Thanks again RyanPostlethwaite 16:40, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Flag of Northern Ireland debate

You have been involved in the flag debate on the Northern Ireland talk page. If you remember there were four option listed about the way forward. If you wish you can go here and make your position clear. regards--Vintagekits 22:02, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Steve Stanton

Thanks for your improvements to the Steve Stanton page. Great reorganization! -- Yksin 00:23, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Update. I'm not sure the nondiscrimination policies currently cited in the Reaction section of the article would prohibit the City discriminating against Stanton. See Talk:Steve Stanton for details of my reasoning. -- Yksin 01:26, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Yep. Agreed (somewhat). I replied on the talk page. Thanks, BTW :) - Alison 01:29, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the barnstar!  :) --Yksin 20:13, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

You're welcome :) You most certainly earned it! - Alison 20:22, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

SM

Tuatha Dé Danann, the first on the list, is not part of S Myth. It wasn't 100 years ago or 200 years ago either. Well, if the edges are going to be blurred, and the waters muddied, what does that make of Misplaced Pages. At best a second rate encyclopedia. Or we can aim to higher ideals and make a first rate encyclopedia. It's up to the editors. Manopingo 19:14, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

They you (all) need to come to consensus to re-order the list. Deleting the Scottish mythology entry without doing so is just going to cause trouble. And bringing the fight to WP:IWNB without giving any rationale isn't going to help your cause. The Tuatha Dé Danann page explicitly states in its first paragraph that it's an Irish Goidelic myth and not a Scottish one, so there's no confusion in the mind of the reader. - Alison 19:46, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
To be frank, I'm not too concerned, and believe me, I have no cause, but I did try to put it right, so I'm happy with that. How does anyone know the mind of the reader. All I can say is this, I have written some technical stuff in the past, about 9 years ago, and you would be surprised how just one comma in the wrong place could totally confound a reader. Manopingo 19:56, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Glad you're happy, so! - Alison 19:58, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
I see you are joining a frenzy against me. That's okay, I forgive you. Remember, I was called a vandal 'first, by your friend editor. Many editors go to the wire with the 3rr, over something the believe is in error. Well if hostility is the new consensus, then it's a sad day for WP. Remember hostility is contagious, but I'll ignore it, these lines from the great bard might give you something to consider, The villainy you teach me I will execute, and it shall go hard but I will better the instruction. Please don't poison Misplaced Pages. Manopingo 12:12, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Dude, there is no "frenzy" against you. You're completely overrreacting here. However, I do note that you've decided to take {{celtic mythology}} to WP:WWNB now. These are not the actions of someone who is "not too concerned" and " no cause". You just called up an editor for a personal attack over using the word "pedantic" in a revert of one of your edits to Ireland. May I suggest you step back for a minute and consider your position on all this? I am not "poison wikipedia", nor am I "teach villainy", as you imply. - Alison 13:01, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Kathryn is not my "friend" - she is just another editor, is all. Try discussing the content of edits rather than the person. If you require an apology, I'm sure it will be forthcoming on WP:AN/I where you've brought your edit war. In the meantime, maybe try editing some content, as the the vast majority of your edits so far have been userpage commentary - Alison 13:21, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, you you have turned yourself inside out defending the indefensible, as per my last. I have always turned a blind eye to sark, but never more. Manopingo 13:26, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

At least people will know I made my stand. When folks examine WP files in 200 years time, they'll see that one man stood up for the true history. He's going to get barred, but that's the price of being true! Good night Ali, good night. Manopingo 23:41, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Sir, you need to step back for a minute and take a breather. Your edit commentary is getting more and more offensive. Honestly - just take it easy and edit some other stuff for a while and cool down before you get blocked - Alison 23:52, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Nice to see you watching, Irish one. Manopingo 23:48, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

You need watching. You're getting abusive with just about everyone who comes in contact with you, not to mention you doing your best to alienate the entire listenership of WP:IWNB - Alison 23:52, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Some people won't talk. The edits i am concerned about were done without talk. Ali, I know you are a fine editor. Yep, you may not have noticed, in all the broil, it's coming around. The reverts weren't reverts, but corrections. I'll have a look later. Manopingo 23:58, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Reflist?

Hi there, I noticed your replacement of the Enzyme inhibitor ref section with the reflist template. What is the advantage of this reformatting? I can't seem to find any new features. If this is advantageous, I'll reformat some of my other articles. TimVickers 18:09, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Hi Tim. I tend to use {{Reflist}} for a number of reasons; 1) it's easy to understand - you can set optional arguments for coulums and default widths, etc, 2) new editors are often confused by the <references /> tag as it's not immediately obvious to them that the references get cited right there 3) it saves the repetitive markup stuff that you need to add to format columns, etc. I like it because it's tidy and clean and easy to understand! - Alison 01:58, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
