"X" (pronounced "Multiply") is a song from Armenian-American alternative metall band System of a Down, released on their second studio album Toxicity. The song was released as a double A-side promotional single along with "Prison Song". The single was released before its parent album was delayed.

Background

"X" immigration, overpopulation, and the Armenian Genocide (the final of which is a common theme in the band's songs). It is one of the fastest and most chaotic songs on the album.

"X" was one of the first song's from Toxicity written. The track was debuted live on Halloween, 1997, and would be played many more times before the release of the album. The song was also recorded for the band's self titled debut, but was ultimately cut. Recently, the song has been used to open the group's concerts.
