Yes, that photo is really a Kuenssberg! But his son (also a Kuenssberg), who I've personally met.
I guess an easy enough mistake for anybody to accidentally make, as they're family.

Anna Larssen Bjørner

Thanks, Roger, for your additions to this page. It's always good to see your interest in the articles I create but I usually start with what becomes the lead to longer articles. Perhaps it is a mistake to start new articles in article space rather than in draft form but I find it rather a nuisance to have to move things around and I usually continue editing within the next 24 hours. I'm now in the process of expanding this one and hope to bring it up to at least start class by the end of the day. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 11:46, 19 December 2022 (UTC)

@Ipigott: thats OK I create my articles in article space too ... although I find that the quality required to avoid getting "helpful" templates within two minute of publishing a work in progress becomes a higher and higher bar. My main reason for not using draft is to encourage others like yourself to collaborate as its great to find that "my" article has grown a paragraph or magically my typos have corrected themselves. Do have a great Xmas in Lux. Best wishes Roger aka Victuallers (talk) 12:03, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
Yes, it's always great to see others have been improving my articles. Perhaps it's because most of them are about Scandinavians that I usually have to wait quite some time before any solid improvements are made, unless someone has nominated them as DYKs. Fortunately, I rarely get any of those bothersome templates. Hope you have a great Xmas too.--Ipigott (talk) 12:23, 19 December 2022 (UTC)

Nomination of Sharon Wardle for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Sharon Wardle is suitable for inclusion in Misplaced Pages according to Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Sharon Wardle until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.

Uhooep (talk) 20:16, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

Victuallers, I entirely agree with you about the notability of ambassadors. It is patently ridiculous that they are not considered to be inherently notable. But sadly the deletionists are taking over at AfD and it seems that there's little those of us who think this way can do about it. They just enjoy deleting the work of others, crow about their successes in doing it, and those of us who have the backbone to stand up to them (not many of us, unfortunately) are shouted down, mocked, sneered at and even threatened with "sanctions" (such as losing admin status - I have been threatened with this personally for stating an opinion at AfD) for "going against Misplaced Pages policy". The subject of inherent notability is a losing battle and one that I have largely given up on, as I know I just won't get the support. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:15, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Not a comment on this article specifically, but "inherent notability" isn't really a thing. Notability is not about what you or I think is important but what's written about elsewhere. In the world we live in, sportspeople get more attention than diplomats; Misplaced Pages is just a microcosm of that world. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:43, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
Hi Harry, That doesnt work with my understanding of notability. The love island "star"s get lots more hits than MPs or ambassadors but only the latter will make it into the Guardian obits or the ODNB. Coverage = celebrity .not. notability. Victuallers (talk) 12:12, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
Agree 100%. Misplaced Pages used to accept this too, but sadly the growth of the deletionist movement has ended this. There are still a few accepted cases of inherent notability around (e.g. WP:POLITICIAN), but they probably won't last much longer. It is now even being challenged that people with obits in major newspapers are notable (the claim is that they are only notable for dying - the fact that only a small number of people get obits and they are selected because of their achievements in life is apparently irrelevant). -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:51, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Elizabeth Avery

Hi Victuallers, I hope 2023 is starting off well for you! Nice one on creating Elizabeth Avery, I was just wondering if it would be helpful to add Template:Floruit for her dates, I thought I'd check what you thought before doing so. It would give fl. 1614–1653 Cheers, Mujinga (talk) 12:51, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

Oh just do it. I make too many errors, and even after they are fixed, there is always lots of room for improvement. Be bold! Victuallers (talk) 17:06, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

Italian women

I found this book Almanacco della donna Italiana (in Italian). Florence, Italy: R. Bemporad & Figlio. 1925 that has a ton of photos in it. I've uploaded Virginia Tango Piatti and Laura Orvieto, but it occurs to me that perhaps there is a way to download the whole book and extract the photos? I have zero clue how to do that, but thought that perhaps you would and then it would give us a bunch of images for our Mediterranean editathon next month. No worries if you are too busy, but I know that like me, you believe in the power of the picture. SusunW (talk) 18:05, 12 February 2023 (UTC)

Thanks SusanW, it looks like a good source (see this) but I can only crop pictures out. Users like Fae have tools that can sometimes peel out pictures. You could try and raise it with him. Victuallers (talk) 08:53, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

Yes, same problem I have, but Fae's accounts on en.wp and commons, show no activity since 2021. Perhaps I'll just put it on the editathon page as an FYI. SusunW (talk) 14:31, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

Nelly Weeton / Ellen Weeton

Look like dupes to me :) I don't have a strong opinion either way as to which is the name we should prefer - do you? And many congratulations on being an editor of the week!! Dsp13 (talk) 21:08, 4 April 2023 (UTC)

@Dsp13: Thanks for the congrats (grin). Good to see that editors are fighting over women's biogs. I thought I had not checked enough but it looks like mine was first in this case. I use wikidata to try and check that there is a gap in the articles, however I note that the other was created as a draft and I think they are very tricky to find - and this wouldnt help. Cheers. Long time no see! Good to know you're still active. BorgQueen (talk) 10:25, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

Twitter has locked out @wikiwomeninred. so back to former haunts. Thx for the hug. Victuallers (talk) 10:46, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
Twitter has locked it out? Why? BorgQueen (talk) 10:57, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
They tightened the security and started asking questions that referred back to stuff we had forgotten. I'm confident that we will get it back but at the mo it isnt working (which at least supports our argument that we are the rightful owners). Victuallers (talk) 12:00, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

I resolved this by determining it's public-domain. Thanks for thanking me for my edit by the way, fixing copyright issues often feels like thankless drudgery. I see that you wrote most of the the article on Marian Smith and ended up fighting with the bots. I didn't go digging into whether the photo could meet Misplaced Pages's rules for fair use, but I saw that it was orphaned and I know editors are pretty strict about using non-free images to identify people. I saw it was old and went digging. The Quirky Kitty (talk) 23:07, 30 April 2023 (UTC)

On 3 May 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Mary Taft, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. Funny name coincidence

Just noticed your thanks for a hyphen, and your handle. Coincidence is that I'm temporarily living in the Royal Edward Victualling Yard. Not a term I had ever used before, except as "vittles". Dicklyon (talk) 22:24, 6 May 2023 (UTC)

Its an old name for ayone who supplies food and drink, e.g. an innkeeper. More recently it was the supply of same to ships. I took the name when I made my own wine and it became my handle. thx 4 noticing. Roger aka Victuallers (talk) 00:00, 7 May 2023 (UTC)

June 2023

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Misplaced Pages, you may be blocked from editing. Reposting very closely paraphrased copyrighted text after it has been already explained here is disruptive. I hope this is a one-off and we don't need to open a CCI for your many contributions, if this is the lack of care you show in avoiding copyright violations. Fram (talk) 14:46, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
