Tahir Naqqash (born 6 June 1959) is a former Pakistani cricketer from Kashmir who played in 15 Test matches and 40 One Day Internationals from 1980 to 1985.He played under the captaincy of Imran Khan.

In Test Cricket

Tahir Naqash was made a part of the Test team for the first time in the Karachi Test against Sri Lanka in 1982. He made this first Test memorable for himself. In this Test, which ended in Pakistan's victory by 204 runs, Tahir Naqash surprised everyone by scoring 57 runs in just 65 balls with the help of 9 fours. While in the bowling department, he made 11 maidens out of 32 overs and dismissed 3 players for 83 runs. Sri Lankan opener Bandula Warnapura was lbw by Tahir Naqash for just 13 runs to become his first Test wicket. Tahir Naqash also made Duleep Mendis and Mahes Goonatilleke their victims in this innings. Overall, Tahir Naqash took 2 more wickets in the second innings and achieved a half-century and 5 wickets in the first match. In the second Test in Faisalabad, he proved to be very expensive when he had to score 161 for 2 wickets. In the third test in Lahore, he could not get any wicket for 76 runs. Tahir Naqash was also included in the Pakistan cricket team that visited England in 1982. In the first test in Birmingham, he played innings of 12 and 39, and when he took over the bowling department, he was able to create problems for the English batsmen at one point, although Imran Khan's bowling in this test ended in England's victory. was at its peak but newcomer Tahir Naqash proved to be the key bowler with figures of 1/46 in the first innings and 40/5 in the second innings. Tahir Naqash's performance could have been Pakistan's winner if not for England's help with Derrick Randall's 105. With 31/1 in the second Test at Lord's, he returned home with 7 wickets in the series where the Australian cricket team arrived to play the series. Apart from scoring 15 runs in the first test in Karachi, he dismissed 4 players for 78 runs. He scored 15 unbeaten runs in the Faisalabad test, but he could not get any wicket for 46 runs, which he took out in the last test in Lahore, where he took the wickets of 3 Australian players by giving 104 runs. In the same season, the Indian cricket team visited Pakistan. In the 2 Test matches of the series, he showed a performance of 97/2 in the Karachi Test match, but when Pakistan toured India in 1983, Tahir Naqash dismissed 5 Indian players in the Bangalore Test. The Test was a draw where India scored 275 runs in the first innings with Roger Binny being the standout batsman with an unbeaten 83 runs. Tahir Naqash made 11 maidens in 34.5 overs for 76 runs, leading Sunil Gavaskar 42, Sandeep Patel 6, Syed Kirmani 14, Srinivas Venktar Raghavan 5 and Dilip Doshi 0 to the pavilion. In the Jalandhar Test, he scored 37 runs and took 2 wickets for 74 runs, while in Nagpur he had to concede 127 runs for one wicket. In the Perth Test against Australia in 1983, he scored an unbeaten 29 and scored 26 runs, but he lost a wicket for 76 runs. Similarly, after a period of 2 years, when he was called for the New Zealand series, he got to play the only and last Test of his Test career in Dunedin, where he scored 81 runs and caught 3 wickets in his clutches. This Test, which ended in victory for New Zealand, will be remembered for Wasim Akram's brilliant performance. Tahir Naqash could not make any score in the first innings, but when New Zealand started the innings, Tahir Naqash took the wickets of Iain Smith, Brendan Burswell. In the second innings, he took the wicket of Martin Crowe for 58 runs. In a way, he made his last Test match a memorable one.
