Beastie Boys Square is the name given to the intersection of Ludlow and Rivington streets on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in New York City. The intersection was immortalized when it appeared on the Beastie Boys' 1989 album Paul's Boutique.

After a decade of petitioning the community board, on September 8, 2023 the intersection was officially renamed with an event at which both Mike D and Ad-Rock spoke at.

History

LeRoy McCarthy began to advocate for the intersection of Ludlow and Rivington to be renamed after Adam Yauch's death in 2012. In 2014, Community Board 3 voted 24-1 against the renaming citing city policy that community involvement with the location needed to be ongoing for at least ten years previous to the application for renaming.

In July 2022, the city council approved the renaming of the intersection to Beastie Boys Square. The dedication happened about a month after Hip Hop celebrated its 50th anniversary.
