President Mohammad Khatami is the fifth (and current) President of Iran

He was elected president of in May 1997, and was Iran's first reformist president. He was re-elected in 2001. He is known for being elected largely by the female vote, due to his promise to improve the status of women in Iran, and for his moderating influence on the hardline Islamists in the Iranian government.

He speaks Arabic, English, German and Persian.
