On 28 August 2024, Israel launched a large-scale military operation inside the northern West Bank, where ongoing fighting related to the Israel-Hamas war (2023-present) has been occurring. The military operation is focusing on the cities of Tulkarm and Jenin, with hundreds of troops from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) involved. IDF spokesman Avichay Adraee announced the operation in a joint statement with the Shin Bet.
