hi again

Hey Daniel. Finally sorted out my life enough to consider getting back on here again after my several months hiatus. Was just trailing round my old haunts and saw you'd taken quite a leap since that last time we talked :) Was amazed to see your RFA snowball like that! See I was right when I first nominated you (even if I was wrong to do so...). Catch you around... Tom --Errant Tmorton166 02:14, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Heya Tom, welcome back :) Thanks for the compliments. You weren't wrong to nominate me - I accepted, and it was I who was wrong to act like a dick...but that's in the past. Good luck, and again, welcome back! Cheers, Daniel Bryant 02:15, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
:D cheers dude. Cya around. Tom --Errant Tmorton166 02:27, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
And you :) Cheers, Daniel Bryant 02:28, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

MedCom dispute

Good evening Daniel; the MedCom dispute that I recently (successfully) mediated has slipped back into dispute. What's your advice - as a non-member, do I leave it to a current mediator to solve the dispute, or do I pick up where I left off, as the editor who was technically the mediator.

anthony 02:17, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

I can't see any reason why you shouldn't pick it up again, if the participants have no objection to you doing so. From what I recall, the case (JfJ2?) was handled successfully by you, so you obviously know what's going on. Cheers, Daniel Bryant 02:18, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes, Jews for Jesus II was the case reference; that's a fair point - I received plenty of support after the mediation ended, but it appears as soon as I turned my back it started back up again :( if they do agree, would you mind keeping an eye over the case? Although I'm highly experienced in Mediation (succeessful cases 15 v. 1 unsuccessful :) the only formal experience I've tasted is JfJ. By the way, I've been studying Misplaced Pages:Mediation, so I'm up to date :) I'll make contact. anthony 02:21, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
What'd be better is if you get them to file another RFM, to gather everyone's support again (mediation is voluntary, remember) as JfJ 3. Then I'll note that you will take the case again, and we can proceed from there. Cheers, Daniel Bryant 02:23, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
Got it; cheers for your assistance — anthony 02:24, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
No problems :) Daniel Bryant 02:25, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Page move help

Hi Dan, I need your help. I want to move this page to another title, but I can't move it because there is no move button for it. Is there someplace I can go for help with this? Thanks and have a great day!--CJ King 17:21, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

checkY Done, you moved and I deleted the leftovers. I hope you have a great day also :) Cheers, Daniel Bryant 01:00, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

email

Good morning (GMT time); are you available for a quick e-mail discussion?

anthony 02:53, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Yes, or IRC - I don't mind. Daniel Bryant 03:09, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the nudge :) by the way, I sorted out that malformatted MedCom nomination a few minutes ago. Yeah IRC is fine; shall join now, although I must warn you - I'm an amateur when it comes to this sort of thing, and my internet connection is currently wonky to say the least, so I occasionally cut out. Otherwise, my nick is just anthony_cfcanthony 03:12, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Maybe we share an ISP - my internet connection sucks as well :) Just ping me (type /msg Daniel-Bryant hey) and we'll go from there. Cheers, Daniel Bryant 03:13, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

(reduce indent) Daniel, are you still on IRC? anthony 04:45, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Yep, same nick - just ping me. Daniel Bryant 04:47, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Bloody internet ;) kick anthony_cfc, can you, so I can re-join? anthony 05:41, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
I can't kick your nick off Freenode without your password. Wait about 5mins and it should sign out automatically :) Daniel Bryant 05:43, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Name now anthony^cfcanthony 05:55, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Not working - will wait for anthony_cfc to auto-disconnect. anthony 05:58, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
OK *waits* :) Daniel Bryant 05:59, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
What's your nick? The two I tried don't seem to work. Alternatively, you could just message me, Armedblowfish. — Armed Blowfish (mail) 09:15, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Oh, this thread is over three hours old, no wonder. In that case, there is something on the MedCom mailing list I would like you to read.  : ) Armed Blowfish (mail) 09:20, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Read, and responded. Daniel Bryant 09:55, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Talk:Goguryeo

User:Nlu made several excellent progresses already before I arrived by introducing various straw polls. These straw polls gathered a general sense of consensus on the way to make the inclusion of national history templates NPOV. Most of the disputes have been temporally resolved, and further NPOV concerns will only likely be address and resolved when the page is unprotected.

My eyes will stay on the case, but there are currently no real disputes going on. What should I do? AQu01rius (User • Talk) 04:18, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Well, just keeping an eye on things should be aplenty if things are currently going smooth. Daniel Bryant 04:21, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Nazism RfM

That's just what I was doing! How does this look:

A request for mediation has been filed with the Mediation Committee that lists you as a party. The Mediator accepting this case is a non-MedCom member, and your input is once again required; please sign the relevant section on the case page, and indicate whether you agree or refuse to mediate with this editor. If you are unfamiliar with mediation, please refer to Misplaced Pages:Mediation. There are only seven days for everyone to agree again, so please check as soon as possible. Once all the editors have re-signed, Mediation will be able to begin.

Kindest regards,
anthony 09:56, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

anthony 09:56, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Sounds good! I'd add "once this poll concludes, mediation will be able to begin" or similar - keep their spirit up :) Cheers, Daniel Bryant 09:57, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Added - just doing my obsessive/Mediator thing, and organising the case page, then I'll notify. anthony 09:59, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Daniel - I've just came across the Pink Panther's offer to mediate this case; is it appropriate for me to take it, when he/she has already offered too? anthony 10:12, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Very appropriate. I do not consider The pink panther to be capable and experienced enough to meet the needs for mediating a dispute, and I would use my MedCom veto if he/she did at this juncture. Daniel Bryant 10:12, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Acknowledged; just checking — anthony 10:13, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

hey there

Hi

I came across these edits while on RCP. An anon redirected the page Desert storm to Dust storm, while earlier the page re-directed to the Iraq war.

The diffs for the redirecting and subsequent explanation are these - page redirect, talk page note.

I was wondering, is this correct? Or do we have any policies/guidelines that could be followed in such cases?

Apologies if this note seems a little random, I saw your replies on User:Riana. She said she might be busy for the next few days, so I thought I might pester you :)

Best regards, xC | 09:59, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello :) The relevant policies and guidelines are Misplaced Pages:Disambiguation and Misplaced Pages:Redirect. In this case, I believe that my change to a disambiguation page to be appropriate given the conflict over the redirect location. Hope this helps :) Daniel Bryant 10:07, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Damn - dent in forehead where I keep slapping it - why didn't I think of it? Excellent idea! Thanks for clearing that up! xC | 10:24, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
:) Don't slap yourself too much, now... Daniel Bryant 10:26, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

User:The pink panther

Hi there

I know I just posted a note above, but I had another to ask you as well. This user - User:The pink panther has put up on zir userpage that zir age is thirteen. I remember there was another user, who was twelve and had been editing WP for a while, and his age and other such details were removed from the userpage for privacy concerns. The userpage history was also deleted and it was explained to him that he shouldn't put up his age on WP, as he was far too young.

Since this user is only a year older than that particular case, shouldn't the same be followed here? I'm sorry that I cannot remember the name of the previous user, but I'm sure I'll be able to find it, and I'll post it as soon as I can.

Best regards, xC | 10:04, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

From what I gather, the problem with the twelve year old was the fact that there were further personal information in addition to the age - this combination was the concern, bot the age itself. However, I'm not 100% sure on this. Can I ask you to post to WP:ANI, because I'm not sure of current practice in this area. Cheers, Daniel Bryant 10:10, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Ah, got it. Off to WP:ANI then. Thanks again! Cheers! xC | 10:26, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
No problems, and sorry I couldn't help more. Daniel Bryant 10:34, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Quotes up to and including Week 22 added; will get round to the rest soon — anthony 10:16, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Cool – I'll do another 10-or-so SA's and three SP's tomorrow (after I meet with Jimbo :)), and then we'll run off to FPOC :) I'll think up a base for our nomination statement tonight, and then we'll work on it and sign it together tomorrow (ACST). Cheers, Daniel Bryant 10:18, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
