– This SPI case is open.

Suspected sockpuppets

Same topics of interest and POV pushing in the articles, Bengali Kayastha (for which the sockmaster was blocked) and now Bengali Brahmin.

Nobita456 came up with so many socks and tried to push their POV in sensitive caste articles quite some time back, it would be difficult to provide differences; but the behavioral pattern including style of writing is same. I can provide more evidence if the admins are not convinced.

The greatest evidence for now is the Editor Interaction utility; please check this! Ekdalian (talk) 07:29, 29 November 2024 (UTC) Ekdalian (talk) 07:29, 29 November 2024 (UTC)

Another behaviour evidence: Nobita456 and their socks used to be online most of the time, and would respond immediately; same is applicable for the suspect, as also evident from their comments on this page. Ekdalian (talk) 12:38, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
Please note that till now, the user/suspect has not even denied clearly that they do not represent another sock from the same sockfarm! Rather, they have acknowledged that they knew Misplaced Pages rules before joining using the username Timovinga! Ekdalian (talk) 16:51, 29 November 2024 (UTC)

• Maybe some caste warriors don't like me, leaving everything aside, did you just call me a POV pusher with me except you? Timovinga (talk) 08:43, 29 November 2024 (UTC)

You are misrepresenting facts! LukeEmily's arguments are almost same as my views. But this is not the right forum to discuss. God knows who's the caste warrior! @Fylindfotberserk: you may share your opinion (obviously regarding the SPI) in case you have other observations! Thanks. Ekdalian (talk) 10:17, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
There is no god, even blinds can see you are a Kayastha POV pusher. Timovinga (talk) 10:22, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
A newbie user having an in-depth knowledge of Wiki guidelines, policies, sub-projects and even obscure consensus and essays is kinda suspect. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:52, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
Nobody had any problem until I exposed POV edits, now you guys are teaming up, and in which universe one year is a newbie? Timovinga (talk) 12:15, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
I was pinged here. One year is a newbie period. Besides, your edits / edit summaries from the very beginning are proof enough. Newbies wouldn't know Wiki jargons like "WP:RS", "Copyedit", obscure South Asia specific essays like "RAJ era sources", as well as the "Basic WP rule, no source no mention. Most of newbies would add/change content without paying any heed to WP:V anyway. This one (your 9th edit) is a dead giveaway. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:19, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
I knew wiki rules way before I created my account. Timovinga (talk) 13:43, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
And WP:RS, WP:V and WP:RAJ they are the basic foundations of WP! a one month old editor does know these rules! Timovinga (talk) 15:34, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
@TheSandDoctor: I partly agree, though you seem to be missing the (other) points. Having knowledge of the core Wiki guidelines and policies, writing GA/FA status articles, becoming a new page reviewer/admin isn't the same as having an understanding of obscure project specific policies and essays. A lot of 10-20 year Wikipedians (admins including) aren't aware of the project specific guidelines and consensuses (WP:INB related for example), which isn't surprising. Not to mention WP:RAJ, which is an essay on caste-related topics concerning South Asian-related articles only and it is not a "basic foundations of WPI" as the suspected SP as put. Timovinga has demonstrated knowledge of those within 1-2 months of account creation. Also, their 9th edit was to open an SPI against Winged Blades of Godric. How many newbies could/would do that? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:29, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
Noob attempt TBH. Timovinga (talk) 13:09, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
  • Comment by LukeEmily: I received a notification from this page. I will not comment on the ongoing discussion on Bengali kayastha talk page here as it is irrelevant here. I had not gone through details of Timovinga's edits before. However, there are some points that are bothering me too once I went through the edit history of Timovinga and @Fylindfotberserk:'s and @Ekdalian:'s comments. Timovinga, you created the account on 23rd December 2023. The very next day, 24th December 2023, you opened a SPI investigation against an editor @TrangaBellam: here. TrangaBellam was involved in the dispute with Nobita456(original SP) over the Baidya page. One editor asked you about your previous account but you deleted his comment without answering him You also accused Ekdalian of being a POV pusher but if you look at this edit, Ekdalian is actually preventing Chitraguptavanshi Kayastha from claiming Brahmin status. I don't know if you meant Bengali Kayastha instead of Kayastha - you should be specific and discuss it on the talk page - all subgroups are so different from each other that they almost have almost nothing in common as far as varna or rituals are concerned. But I find you removed large contents from main Kayastha page and I don't see Ekdalian opposing you at all. I have interacted with Ekdalian, TrangaBellam and Fylindfotberserk and consider all three to be excellent editors. For what it is worth, I actually agreed with Nobita456 also partially on some points he had made about Baidya. And Sitush had also suggested a way out. Putting everything in context, timings, understanding of less known India specific wiki rules, your page edits, edits on Bengali Brahmins(talk page) and your other interactions , similarities with edits by Nobita456, complaints against Trangabellum who made major edits to the Baidya page that the original SP was involved in - the comments by Fylindfotberserk and Ekdalian above seem to make sense. But I am not accusing you of being Nobita456 as I do not know anything for sure - the similarity might be a coincidence. But why did you not answer the editor Hello Timovinga, I noticed that you have been pretty active in your edits, including starting a sockpuppet investigation within a day of creating your account... Is this your only Misplaced Pages account? Have you edited on Misplaced Pages without an account, or with a different account? Thanks, Wracking 18 January 2024 here , however, you deleted his comment without answering him here. Thanks, LukeEmily (talk) 11:58, 5 December 2024 (UTC)

  • @Fylindfotberserk: I would caution against generalized statements like saying one year is still the newbie period and a general belief that editors with under a years' worth of experience can't possibly know policies. My RfA was successful in June 2018, with ~18 months' experience. By the 4 month mark I was a new page reviewer, the 5 month mark a page mover. By the one year mark I'd already written Video game walkthrough and brought it through GA (that was actually inside 8 months from creating my account), created Ali-A and got Mick Jagger up to GA the following month. 1 year is quite a long time to become familiar with policies; it isn't that hard and it is plausible to have just read policies like I did before doing things (for the most part).
