The chronology of the expulsions needs to be made clear. I propose the following:

Can the sentence in the lead's third paragraph: "During the offensive, approximately half of Palestine's predominantly Arab population, or around 750,000 people," be corrected to "During the civil war and subsequent Arab-Israeli war, approximately half of Palestine's predominantly Arab population, or around 750,000 people,"

There are numerous reasons why the current wording is incorrect or misleading. It implies that 750,000 Palestinian were expelled during Plan Dalet alone which isn't what the sources say or the main article: 1948 Palestinian expulsion and flight. That article says that 250-300,000 of the 750,000 were expelled during the civil war even before Plan Dalet. This number should certainly be mentioned as it's more relevant. The wording and positioning of the information could also be misconstrued as implying that 750,000 were expelled from "from April 1948 to mid-May" before the Arab states even joined the war, so the timeline of Plan Dalet could be better clarified. If I had no prior knowledge on the topic and I read the lead, that is how I would've interpreted it so maybe total figures should go at the bottom and we can add figures for the civil phase to the third paragraph. 92.10.235.0 (talk) 09:15, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

I disagree with how you rewrote the sentence, as it was rewritten it remained unclear and became controversial. The massacre at Deir Yassin is undue in the lead. Instead I accepted the requested suggestion which is simple, clear and uncontroversial. OdNahlawi (talk) 10:04, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

Haganah May 1946

The description of Haganah activity in may of 1946 is unclear or misleading. This section talks of plans the Haganah made and slips into "implementation". The implication is the Haganah burned villages in May 1946 but there is no record of this happening. TokyosexGreg (talk) 13:18, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

Morris paragraph

Is this accurate or due for inclusion?

According to Benny Morris, an Israeli historian, much of the fighting in the first months of the war took place in and on the edges of the main towns, and was initiated by the Arabs. It included Arab snipers firing at Jewish houses, pedestrians, and traffic, as well as planting bombs and mines along urban and rural paths and roads.

Recent changes
