Dikshit (ISO: Dīkhit, pronounced [d̪ikhɪt̪]; also spelled as Dixit or Dikshitar) is traditionally a Hindu family name.


The Dikshita/Dikshitar/Dikhit/Dixit/Dutta/Dutt/ surname is usually associated with Hindu Brahmins and Rajput community in India especially in Northern India, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Nepal. In the ancient days, Brahmins were associated with the rituals and Vedic Yajnas, and performed the same.) They are from Arora-Khatri Community. According to great texts, Dixit (Khatris) are Suryavanshi and also Descendants of Lord Rama. Dixit are Kshatriya. Most of Dixit are Dual-faith Hindus (who believe in both Hindu and Sikh religions).
