Joseph J. White is a Canadian educator, author, and entrepreneur recognized for his contributions to the mortgage industry and financial education. He is the founder of the Real Estate and Mortgage Institute of Canada Inc. (REMIC), which has become one of Canada’s leading providers of mortgage licensing education.

Career

Mortgage Industry

Joseph J. White entered the Canadian mortgage industry in 1988 as a licensed mortgage broker, operating under the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA).. Over the course of his career, he has established himself as a leading figure in mortgage education and training.

White has held several notable positions, including serving as the Vice President of Sales for a national mortgage lender. He has managed hundreds of agents with two of Canada's largest mortgage brokerages. Additionally, he has served as the principal broker of a commercial mortgage brokerage, as well as the Ontario-based mortgage brokerage 360 Lending Solutions.

Teaching and Course Development

In 1996, White began his teaching career at Seneca College, where he later became the program coordinator for the Financial Services Underwriting Post Diploma Program. He was instrumental in designing several courses aimed at preparing students for careers in the financial services sector. White held this role until 2010, leaving behind a legacy of academic innovation.

Publishing

White is the author of Mortgage Brokering in Ontario, a textbook widely used in Canadian mortgage licensing programs, including those at Humber College,, Cambrian College, and REMIC. The textbook has gone through 16 editions, signifying its enduring relevance. He has also authored Mortgage Brokering in Ontario: Broker Edition and The Unstoppable Mortgage Broker, which became an Amazon bestseller in 2024 .

Real Estate and Mortgage Institute of Canada (REMIC)

In 2008, White founded REMIC, which has grown into Canada’s largest provider of mortgage licensing education. In 2016, REMIC expanded its curriculum to include the Harmonized Life License Qualifying Program (HLLQP). REMIC was recognized as the "Service Provider of the Year" at the Canadian Mortgage Awards in 2023 .
