  • Comment: Significant sourcing from after 2022. I see a lot of AFD talks from 2019, so maybe this artist is notable now? Bluethricecreamman (talk) 00:50, 3 January 2025 (UTC)

Carrie Able is an American multidisciplinary artist and musician whose work encompasses oil painting, digital art, and music. Her practice integrates traditional techniques with emerging technologies such as virtual reality and blockchain.

Career

Carrie Able's work spans traditional and digital mediums, with a focus on creating immersive artworks that combine visual and auditory experiences. Her notable solo exhibitions include DALL'ANIMA, which debuted at the European Cultural Centre's Personal Structures: Reflections during the 59th Venice Biennale. This first-of-its-kind presentation linked interactive XR works, music, and traditional media, reaching over 500,000 visitors.

In Excavating EX Machina, she performed original music compositions within projection-mapped VR artworks at New York City's Lume studios. Her works and sculptures have also been included in Art D'Egypte in Cairo.

She was taped by John Legend's web3 company, OurSong, to release a collaborative music project for her single Deep Joy. The winning remix producer was a 16-year-old from Taiwan who was sent a VR headset with Able's original artwork on it.

Able employs digital tools to extend traditional art forms into virtual spaces and has expressed her views on the limitations of artificial intelligence in art, highlighting the importance of human creativity.

Able has been a keynote speaker at events such as the Kristal Elma Festivali in Istanbul, and SXSW in Austin Texas, and continues to inspire audiences with her unique fusion of art and music. In addition to being an accomplished artist both visually and musically, she is a gifted mentor.
