Chen Lung-chu (traditional Chinese: 陳隆志; born 30 December 1935) is a Taiwanese legal scholar. He was a professor at the New York Law School, the founder of the Taiwan New Century Foundation, and chairman of the Taiwan Society of International Law.
Early life and education
Chen was born to Su-ton and Lai-chu (Huang) Chen in Madou District in Tainan County, Taiwan, on 30 December 1935. After graduating as valedictorian from National Tainan First Senior High School, Chen studied law at National Taiwan University (NTU), where he was a student of legal scholar Peng Ming-min. He graduated first in his class from NTU with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 1958 and then pursued graduate studies in the United States at Northwestern University and Yale University. After receiving his Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in 1961, Chen entered Yale Law School, where he earned a second LL.M. degree in 1962 and a Doctor of Juridical Science (J.S.D.) in 1964.
Career
After obtaining his doctorate, Chen was a research associate at Yale Law School from 1964 to 1977, and was a senior research associate there from 1973 to 1977.
Chen is a elected life member of the American Law Institute.
