It consists of a rosette of leaves, each up to six feet (1.8 meters) long and about one-third as wide. The rosette acts as a catch basin for falling leaves and other detritis which provides nutrients for the plant.The spathe is up to 18 inches (45 cm) in height while the spadix becomes as much as two feet (sixty cm) in length when in fruit. The fruits are one-half inch red berries.
