Circle of Stalking

I assume you were stalking Left guide and not me? I don't think you've stalked me before? lol ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 14:15, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

@WikiOriginal-9: Among the last of the "former Americans" among former All-Americans. —Bagumba (talk) 14:46, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
Oh cool. Nice work. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 14:49, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

Wes Martin

"is an American professional football player who is an offensive guard" Is that what we're doing? The "is" makes it sound like he is a free agent. The free agent wording was depreciated so we don't have to keep updating it. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 05:59, 30 December 2024 (UTC)

@WikiOriginal-9: I'm partial to NBA proj convention of "who last played for XYZ". But he is a FA if he's unsigned, no? At some point, he'll be "former". —Bagumba (talk) 06:07, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
Yes, he will be former eventually but the point of removing free agent is that we don't have to update it later. For example, if Wes Martin just stayed at "American professional football guard" forever, that wouldn't even be technically wrong. Readers don't notice whether it says former or not. If it explicity says "free agent" when he hasn't played in years though, then readers actually do notice that.
This IP is up to some hardcore vandalism by the way. They keep adding "he spent the summer of 2017 living in Eritrea" to a ton of articles, lol. I reverted everything. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 06:26, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
@WikiOriginal-9... the point of removing free agent is that we don't have to update it later: I don't see that as an argument at Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject National Football League/Archive 20 § Listing NFL players as "former", when it was decided to ax FA. —Bagumba (talk) 07:32, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
"This is a simple enough change that will help eliminate the endless "former or free agent" debates and future-proof these infoboxes." Sorry Bagumba, I'll stop bugging you now lol. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 13:14, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
@WikiOriginal-9: Last sentence. TLDR. LOL. Wasnt the reason I supported it. But anyways. —Bagumba (talk) 13:42, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
I'll assume your warning did the trick for the IP. —Bagumba (talk) 07:33, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
I hope you're not upset at me for starting that discussion (I'm sure you're not but I thought I'd check in anyway, lol). I'm just trying to get an idea one way or the other of what to do. Like I said, I'm perfectly fine with "player who was" if that's what consensus decides.
Also, in regards to your comment about Herschel Walker, USFL MVP is missing from the infobox for some reason... He was also a two-time All-Pro but that's a middling NFL career I guess... I do understand what Cbl means though. I'm not sure what the best way to do these football leads is. There seem to be a plethora of pros and cons to all of the different lead variations. I doubt we will ever come up with the perfect lead, lol.
Thanks Bagumba. Keep up the good work. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 15:25, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
@WikiOriginal-9: Call it a necessary evil for a crowd-sourced platform. I get that some are just content with status quo like with "former American", "professional", "U.S", Podunk (XX) Foobar HS format, "at ]", etc. We'll see if it gets resolved organically within the project, because guideline exceptions otherwise need to go beyond a WP:LOCALCONSENSUS. MOS is a 4-letter word, right? Re: Walker, it was meant to be tongue in cheek. Best. —Bagumba (talk) 16:41, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
Thanks Bagumba. I know what you mean about local consensus. That's why I posted at the MOS and suggested a possible RfC so we could getter wider community input and figure out what to do once and for all. Otherwise, it's always just the same few people commenting at WT:NFL. None of the MOS regulars have weighed in yet though. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 17:04, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
@WikiOriginal-9: As the contention is with the applicability of MOS:SEAOFBLUE, Misplaced Pages talk:Manual of Style/Linking might be more relevant, and I think you can neutrally give an example in the notice, e.g. "how does MOS:SEAOFBLUE relate to a phrase like football quarterback (] ])?", to provide context and draw interest. A plain "See here" with no other background can be too much work for volunteers haha. Esp. w/ NY hangover. —Bagumba (talk) 17:17, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
Ok thanks. I posted a notice there. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 17:22, 2 January 2025 (UTC)

Topicons

Hi Bagumba. The topicons on your userpage kind of make it look like you only have one GA and one DYK. I didn't realize those icons led to subpages, lol. Might I suggest Gonzo fan2007's topicon format? Just an idea if you're interested. Of course, feel free to ignore this and keep it how ever you want. Sorry for bugging you, I just thought you might like to know how other people view your userpage. Bye, ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 05:04, 5 January 2025 (UTC)

@WikiOriginal-9: Thanks. I actually prefer the subtlety (and too lazy to count). Not sure where I got it from—I'm not that original. —Bagumba (talk) 05:34, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
Gotcha. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 05:36, 5 January 2025 (UTC)

List of data breaches page question

How notable does a data breach need to be to be added to the List of data breaches page? ReallyAmazingDude13 (talk) 10:17, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
