Chitwan National Park is a national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site in Nepal. The park contains significant breeding populations of more than 68 mammalian species, out of which 14 are threatened according to the IUCN Red List. It is refuge for the world's second largest population of great one-horned rhinoceros. Chitwan has the highest population of tigers among protected areas in Nepal. The park has large breeding populations of asian elephant, gaur and Various Species of deer. The park received 18 wild water buffalo from Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve in 2016.
