The first match between Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor took place on October 11, 1973. This game occurred when Trabzonspor was still playing in the second division and served as a testimonial match for Erkan Yanardağ, who had played for both Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor. Trabzonspor won this historic match 2-0.

The first league match between the two teams was played on November 24, 1974, at Trabzon City Stadium, where Trabzonspor secured a 1-0 victory.

The teams’ first encounter in the Turkish Cup came during the 1974-75 season final. The first leg of the final was held on May 7, 1975, at Trabzon City Stadium, where Trabzonspor won 1-0. However, Beşiktaş won the second leg 2-0 and claimed the Turkish Cup title.
