Ilia Stambler is an Israeli researcher and advocate specializing in the historical and social implications of aging and longevity science.

Education

Stambler earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Science, Technology, and Society at Bar Ilan University, Israel. His doctoral thesis examined the history of life-extensionism in the twentieth century, culminating in a comprehensive study on the evolution of aging and longevity research.

Career

Stambler serves as the Chief Science Officer and Chairman of Vetek (Seniority) Association—the Movement for Longevity and Quality of Life in Israel.  He is also a fellow at the Department of Science, Technology, and Society at Bar Ilan University.

His research encompasses the historical, ethical, policy, and regulatory aspects of aging and longevity studies. Additionally, he has engaged in mathematical modeling of aging and related diseases, employing information-theoretical measures.

Stambler is actively involved in advocacy for aging and longevity research. He is a founder and board member of International Longevity Alliance (ILA). He holds positions such as executive committee member of the International Society on Aging and Disease (ISOAD), trustee and director of Biogerontology Research Foundation (BGRF). He is also a fellow at the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies (IEET) and serves as Policy Director at the Global Healthspan Policy Institute (GHPI).

He has initiated and organized international advocacy and educational campaigns for aging and longevity research, including the “Longevity Day and Month” and the “Metchnikoff Day” campaigns running since 2013, and a series of national and international conferences on aging and longevity research and advocacy. He is the author and promoter of the section on “Enhancing research, development and education for healthy longevity and prevention of aging-related diseases” as a part of the Israel National Masterplan on Aging published by Knesset in 2019.
