The 2025 LPL season is the currently ongoing 13th season of the League of Legends Pro League (LPL), a Chinese professional esports league for the video game League of Legends. It is be the first LPL season under the new three-split structure and competitive calendar introduced the game's developer Riot Games starting with the 2025 competitive season. Unlike past seasons, the 2025 LPL season is merged into three stages. Stage 1 began on 12 January.
Stage 1
Format
Stage 1 features sixteen (16) competing teams during the Regular Season and are divided into four groups of four teams. Each team in their respective groups will play a single round-robin where all matches will be played in best-of-fives. The top two (2) teams in each group will advance to the eight-team Double-elimination tournament bracket, where all matches will also be best-of-fives. Top seeds from each group will be placed in the upper bracket while second seeds from each group will be placed in the lower bracket. The winner of Stage 1 will qualify for the 2025 First Stand tournament as the league's lone representative. Stage 1 implements the "Fearless Draft" format, which was popularized by China's LoL Development League, where teams cannot pick a champion that they've already played in a series, even if the champion was picked by the opposing team. In addition, side selection during the first game of each best-of-five series will be decided by a one-on-one solo match. All subsequent games in a series will have side selection given to the losing team.

Stage 2
Format
Stage 2 will feature three stages - Group Stage, Rumble Stage, Knights Rivals and Playoffs, and will feature the same (16) competing teams from Stage 1 during the Regular Season. For the group stage, teams will be re-seeded into four groups of four teams based on the results from Stage 1. Each team in their respective groups will play a single round-robin where all matches will be played in best-of-threes. For the rumble stage, the top two (2) teams in each of the four groups during the group stage will move to "Group Ascend" while the bottom two (2) teams will head to "Group Nirvana". Similar to the group stage, teams in both Ascend and Nirvana will play in a single round-robin contested in best-of-three series. The top four (4) teams in "Group Ascend" will advance to the playoffs, while the next four teams will move to Knights Rivals stage. Meanwhile, the top four (4) teams of "Group Nirvana" will join the latter stage. Teams that placed fifth and sixth will be eliminated but will be featured in Stage 3. The bottom two (2) Nirvana teams will be eliminated from the 2025 LPL season. The "Knights Rivals" Stage will be a play-in tournament where the bottom four Ascend teams and the top four Nirvana teams will compete in best-of-five matches, with the winners advancing to the playoffs. The playoffs will be contested in an eight-team Double-elimination tournament bracket, where all matches will be played in best-of-fives. The top three teams that advanced from Group Ascend will get to choose their opponents in the upper bracket while the fourth-ranked team will play against the team that was not selected. The two (2) finalists will automatically qualify for the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational, with the winner of Stage 1 earning the LPL's first seed and the runner-up as the second seed.
Stage 3
Format
In Stage 3, the remaining fourteen (14) teams will enter the rumble stage. The teams that played in the Stage 2 Playoffs will automatically be placed in "Group Ascend", while the remaining six (6) teams will be placed in "Group Nirvana". Similar to Stage 2, each team in their respective groups will play a single round-robin where all matches will be played in best-of-threes, with the top four (4) Ascend teams advancing to the playoffs and the bottom four of the same group advancing to the "Knights Rivals" stage. Meanwhile, the top four (4) Nirvana teams will also join the said stage, with the bottom two teams automatically eliminated. Teams in the "Knights Rivals" Stage will compete in best-of-five matches, with the winners advancing to the playoffs. The playoffs, much like Stage 2, will be contested in an eight-team Double-elimination tournament bracket, where all matches will be played in best-of-fives. The top three teams that advanced from Group Ascend will get to choose their opponents in the upper bracket while the fourth-ranked team will play against the team that was not selected. The top (3) teams from the playoffs will qualify for the 2025 League of Legends World Championship, with the winner of Stage 3 being crowned the Season Champion.
