Requests for IP check

  • Vandal and attack accounts may be listed here for the purpose identifying and blocking the underlying IP address or open proxy. Requests to confirm sockpuppets of known users should be listed in the sockpuppet section above.
  • If you already know the IP address of the suspected open proxy, list it at Misplaced Pages:Open Proxies instead.
  • Use === Subsections ===, do not create subpages.
  • List user names using the {{checkuser|username}} template. Add new reports to the top of the section.
  • Requests may be acted on or declined according to the discretion of the checkuser admins. Responses will be noted here.
  • Answered requests will be moved to Misplaced Pages:Requests for checkuser/IP check/Archive for 7 days, after which they will be deleted. No separate archive (other than the page history) will be maintained.

Dereks1x

This user seems intent upon causing disruption in the Barack Obama and John Edwards page and is continuously creating sockpuppets in order to get around their community ban. The editor has also made edits from several IP addresses from various parts of the US which may suggest open proxy use. 64.3.192.123 (talk · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log) · investigate · cuwiki) was used to "accidentally" edit on Dereks1x's checkuser page, 68.15.20.63 (talk · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log) · investigate · cuwiki) was used to "prove" that Sample1234 was not Dereks1x, and we know of an IP address from the Seattle Public Library system that has been used.--Bobblehead 19:28, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

I suspect that the above user, with whom I have had a number of heated discussions, is the person behind the very abusive edits made by the following:

to my user- and talk- pages.

Note that the times of the anon edits coincide closely with the former's activity on Wikipeida, and that the IPs resolve to an ISP hub in Mansfield, geographically close (in telecoms terms) to the user's stated home of Sheffield.

Confirmed - all of those and some more. He's the only editor from any of said IPs, and the personal attacks from the IPs match. (This is using the IP as a second identity to evade loss of reputation to his main account, so is sockpuppeting.) Other username (barely possible it's a separate person, but not one who's made a good edit worth saving them for): Jen Kettle (moved Leeds to Arsehole of the World: "it's being renamed"). Other IPs used in the last month or so: 81.77.130.11 (e.g. , ), 84.67.56.5 (e.g. , , , - I'm sure we can all be very proud of him managing that last), 91.105.152.10 (e.g. , ), 91.105.184.247 (), 91.105.128.20 (). He does appear to work very hard at editing stuff and seem to enjoy working on Misplaced Pages, but I hope he'll have a good think and be a bit better behaved about it in future - David Gerard 22:34, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedian category vandal

There has recently been a vandal creating categories such as Category:Cum Sucking Wikipedians, Category:Fat Wikipedians, and Category:Faggot Wikipedians, and putting loads of new users in it. They appear to be targeting User:Kross and User:Angr in particular. It might have something to do with Misplaced Pages:Long term abuse/Loyola Vandal. Other suspects include:

This guy was originally blocked for vandalism & personal attacks two weeks ago, and has come back with a huge sock farm. Every sock then abuses the {{unblock}} template by claiming to not be a sock and accusing unblock reviewers of not assuming good faith. Can we somehow stem this sock parade? Emir Arven

In the past few days, there has been a lot of POV pushing, vandalism, attacks, and 3RR violations, and all of them have been from Ips in the range of 85.158.xxx.xxx. A quick WHOIS shows that all of them come from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Looking at the contributions of the IPs, taking into account the language used, the articles edited etc, it is almost certain to assume that they are edits done by Emir Arven (talk · contribs) - a vandalistic, racist, policy violating troll, who currently has an RFC against him (see Misplaced Pages:Requests for comment/Emir Arven) because of those reasons. These IPs are dynamic, and I am asking that the IPs in the 85.158.xxx.xxx range that have been attacking Balkan related articles be blocked and have their proxy or whateevr blocked so these IPs won't keep coming back everyday. Below are some examples of 3RR violations from the most recent IP.

Articles that he has reverted twice so far in the past 15 minutes are Bosnian language (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), Bosnian Church (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), and many more (refer to this).

It should also be noted that Emir Arven has been blocked 10 times including 4 times for 3RR violations.

Mr oompapa et al.

This editor has an modem he keeps resetting and creating abusive accounts. He has created all of these today and is creating them generally every 5 minutes or so. He knows he is gaming the system. I am requestng a check to find an underlying IP range and block it temporarily to prevent this editor from gaming the system. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 16:02, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Note: The User:Darkness of meta sent out all these emails to possibly nearlly every single user who uses a wiki-email on this site (Including me which I was emailed one on April 4th). Whilst it may be for personal information. The email seemed to be promoting some kind of Conspiracy about Misplaced Pages, and notifying the user who's personal information was used. They stated they Did not. Reply to the email so somehow the personal information has by retrieved in a different place completely. I personally think the Mr oompapa should be banned for this. Fobo64

This user, Fobo64 has made an attack on a student of Allan A. Martin Senior Public School. We at the school, do not encouraged negative attitude, remarks or threats of any kind, to ensure a safe environment to our students. The comments made by user, Fobo64 which were directly an aimed attack at a student who attends our school. This form of bullying resides under the section of Cyber Bullying of the Peel Distric School Board Law. This attack was made on a student by the name of Akshay Gulrajani (user: midaks).

Likewise only a clerk, but I'm not sure how much use checkuser would be, in this situation. Even if the user's IP address is revealed, that won't get you any closer to positively identifying them as a particular student without the cooperation of their internet service provider (and if there's multiple students in the house, positive identification might prove impossible) -- most ISPs are fairly particular about the situations in which they consider any release of that sort of information, in my experience.
