- Cato the Elder persecutes Scipio Africanus Major out of jealousy of Scipio's archievment and hatred of Scipio's unorthodox political style. Although Scipio successfully defeated the allegations with the help of the tribune Gracchus and support of the people, Scipio imposed a voluntary exile on himself until his death.
